Thanks Clint. It ticks a few boxes for me...only Shavemac knot, only RV handle, only flashy handle color, and the only numbered LE brush handle even though I begged @jtspartan to make my 30DC LE brush a # 1!
If past experience with Blackland orders hold true, I should have the Vector in hand on Wednesday for Thursday morning's shave. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
Thank you, Jason! Yes, this tub is new. I got it last Christmas from my TSD Secret Santa but has not used it yet, so it’s new to me but almost a year old at this point.
If I would’ve figured out some competent looking numbering, it could have been, Charlie. Others asked for specific numbers as well. Interestingly, no one asked to be a #2... I’ve kicked the tires on a few items to round out the next LE- a custom medallion for the bottom or a 30DC sticker to affix a la Simpsons. We’ll see.
How do you put a medallion on the bottom of a shaving stand so it will be visible? That IS the LE item you were talking about, isn't it? Or are you still digging your heels in about the inevitable?
That sounds really cool, Jason. @Jayaruh recently made a handle for a good friend of mine and inserted a medallion in the base. It turned out to be a very classy looking brush...and probably my favorite of all the Jayaruh brushes.
That is a stunning brush handle, Charlie! Yeah, between about 2003 and 2005, I think it was, I pretty much tried to buy every razor on eBay...
Actually I have decided to live dangerously today and try the soap too. I'm not sure what it is. From the UK and the era, possibly Pears'.
It looks like you brought out the big guns for your Saturday shave, Clint. Check out the video from the Derby City Chop Shop. This is the shop that makes the renowned Shave Tonic. Just a super cool place. Maybe one day I'll give it a try. Currently, I get my haircuts at the same Beauty Shop as my Bride. I've been going there for years, and I'm patiently waiting for some beauty. Have fun today. Get a Vector.
Sorry to disappoint you this morning Charlie. Surprisingly, my willpower has held today. Of course I have not started watching football and consuming adult beverages.
Thanks, John, for the kind words about the brush. I have really enjoyed seeing and learning about the vintage razors in your collection. I'm glad they're getting all shined up and pressed into action. I have been cruising eBay lately, hoping to pick up a Gillette Old Type from 1915 (again, my Dad's birth year). I wouldn't mind having 1 or 2 razors from the era. (I blame you for this. ) I'm also casually looking for an Aristocrat just because they are uber cool... (I blame @brit and @Norcalnewb for that. )
In an attempt to restore balance to the universe and while swimming upstream through copious Saturday morning post, a Shavette Fu multiquote! Some may appear out of order to make them seem like a conversation instead of Post Count Inflation. While driving rapidly cooling pizza and drunk passengers around? Now we know Neal's super power. He's also good at spurring on folks to discussion. (This quote added as an after thought. When the Secret Service starts gathering up 30DC Members for questioning, I want to attend the impromptu meeting!) It's soap. Wash it off until it looks clean. Ought to be as safe as those vintage Krona blades. Toxie Approved! What's the worst that could happen? Maybe I'm influenced by current the "Participation Trophy" paradigm, but shaving with captured war prizes of defeated enemies ought to be OK... It sounded OK until I got to "the smell of a warm drink from a thermos while out on the trail with friends. Notes of orange and bergamot are suffused with the warmth of real honey, whiskey lactone, peat, and nutmeg. To finish it off, we’ve incorporated the strange, rubbery, industrial character of a high grade saffron molecule to give the scent the feel of being out on the trail with idling sleds all around." Randy - did you get that impression? Not many snowmobiles in Florida. Maybe a jet-ski vibe? Had a brief conversation with my Postman this morning. He asked, "Going to watch the Big Game today?" My first thought was - Super Bowl already? I'm one of those people that doesn't watch sports on TV. Going to a huge stadium and seeing it live is fun. Thanks to multi-generational lack of enthusiasm for spectator sports it just doesn't catch my attention. Go Team Go!
I think an LE brush every 2 years is sufficient, John. While those shaving stands you (or Charlie, can’t remember) so ‘unsubtely’ showed are quite nice, it would lead to SWMBO filing papers I think. She has been asking for a corner cabinet for the dining room for quite some time, and if I said “Okay, Babe, I’ll get to it, but just wait until I make 20 walnut shaving stands for the 30DC first” I might as well look for a lawyer...
I have been going to Roosters barbershop for several years. I got a shave from them in the summer of 2014 that prompted me to restart my traditional shaving journey. I really want to go by the Derby City Chop Shop on our next visit.
It must have been @Screwtape. I simply asked for a serial number. Brazilian Rosewood would be nice, though. If things get too bad, I guess you could always live in your trailer at the lake. (Just kidding here...your Bride's priorities must come first every time.)
