Well...I never thought I'd do this but....I flipped the Local Gent Tobacco&Leather. The way I see it, there was too much Tobacco, not enough Leather for my liking. I prefer leather over tobacco anyway, and look forward to future purchases along this line. Maybe a little tobacco mixed in is OK, especially if it is tobacco LEAF, but too much does get to me. This is sad, because as you know from past posts, I loved LG's Fields&Streams...maybe I should have bought another one. Oh well.....I still have a solid lineup as it is. On to wiser purchases.
Keeping with No Clue November, and with my focus (if you can call it that) of working through soap samples... This mornings pick of soap was B&M Tuesday, partly because it’s Tuesday, and partly because I haven’t tried it yet. Wonderful scent, wonderful performance. Exceptional shave. Have a great evening gents! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Oh, umm.....remember that Noble Otter Flying Hide? Ordered today. Plenty of leather scent. Just sayin’.
Thank you, Clint! Not only is it eye candy, but it’s so delightful to use. I’m 99% sure I’ll enjoy the aftershave, otherwise it wouldn’t have been ordered. All this talk about Fine aftershaves lately is what pushed it into the cart though.
Thank you for "just sayin'" on that one! May well be on my list. Having looked at that, I now have 3 Texas-based companies that may hear from me.
No, all PAA soaps now use the CK soap base. They are really the same company anyway. Sent from my Galaxy using Tapatalk
I have not tried a Fine Aftershave that I didn't like. Some of my favorites are L'Orange Noir, Platinum, Fresh Vetiver and Santal Absolut.
What I want from PAA is one of their new razors that use the Gem blades. Hopefully, they'll have more soon. Also, I didn't click the quote button, though @clint64 was talking about how much he likes the Fine scents. One I like that wasn't mentioned is the Barbershop one. Fine has done a really good job with scents.
Thank you Clint! Thank you Andrew! I enjoyed both, but trying for a No Repeat means they are moved to the "used" pile. If I understood, you are keeping the Red Tip? They are a stand out Gillette. Slightly more aggressive geometry, and that distinctive handle knurling bump them up to keepers! Thank you Jason! I didn't see Chris respond about the soap. It's good enough to be a production product, and the scent is unique. I did have a true Rubberset 400 for a short period of time. Back when Tom @twhite was producing his B-400's I got one and realized the reproduction was a better quality handle. Steve @Vlasta did just as well at upping the R-400 bar with his T-400. I haven't ordered a sandalwood AS yet. After some reading of reviews my choice has been leaning toward Proraso. I recall it was one of the more true sandalwood scents. Now I'll have to do the research again to see how Fine compared. Hindsight, Paul. The good part about having a well stocked Den is the products that are no longer available don't get used as often. Fortunately hard soaps have a long shelf life so if you find one you really like, getting a back-up puck isn't hoarding. It's protecting you from Unobtanium prices later.
