1. I'm sorry, I didn't quite catch that.
  2. The Cooper 3 piece is designed to use proprietary blades. You don't need a punch as you can force a regular DE to work,, but over time the plating on the post will likely wear. Not sure what else to say here.

  3. I had to read it a 2nd time. It makes sense now, sorry.

As far as longevity, is there anything I can do to keep it from wearing down? Or is just a product of the design?

  4. Get a good manicure scissors and trim the blade to match the Cooper blade. I have not tried this.

  5. Thank you very much for the info.
I will see if I can find a Cooper blade to use as a template.
I'm using this razor tomorrow morning, we will see how well it does.

  6. Scrunch not punch. Used a Thai Gillette Super Thin which I thought would be particularly compliant. No problems, beautiful shave.

Manicure scissors didn't work well, punch only gets me half way there as it can't reach the East-West sections of the center hole

  7. Now you sir, have peaked my interest.
I am letting it soak in some dawn dish washin detergent to help clean.
I will scrub it a bit tonight, and see how it cleans up, but I'm excited to use it.

  8. Like the old type and Fatips it has no gap at all, while having less exposure, so it requires more attention to angle than the Fatip but is plenty efficient if you can do that.[IMG]

  10. Sorry I missed your original post. Glad you got that baby fixed. My Monobilt latches, but not tightly. I think I'll use your idea to fix it.

  11. Here are the pictures of the Cooper razor I found at the antique store. I know it's not in the greatest condition, user grade.
I plan on trying her out in the morning.
If I don't post again, it means I sliced my head off.

  12. Ok, now I get it. I see what all the fuss is about. This razor just jumped up high on my list of great shavers. 3 pass BBS and it was effortless! I'm hanging on to this guy.

  14. I have that same razor. It users proprietary blades that are no longer available. But if you put a modern DE blade in there and tighten it down it will work just fine and reward you with a nice shave, as you've found out.

  15. I shaved with it this morning. It is a very efficient razor. I used wa Wilkinson Sword blade, that I punched out with a hole punch. Worked just fine.
I put the razor in my top 5 razors.
  16. What hole punch did you use? A specific model, or a generic Office Depot special?
  17. Generic 3 hole punch.
Just office Depot special. Just took my measurements and it went right through.
In hindsight , a single hole punch would have worked better.

  18. Yeah I figured my punch out. I suppose with practice could manage it fairly quickly.

  19. I never bothered with a punch, the blade sat perfectly when tight.

  20. I suppose that due to the condition of my razor, the blade doesn't sit flat, and it is also skewed. Almost like a slant bar razor.

I figure, it takes about 20 seconds to line up the blade and punch the hole.
It isn't a supre big deal for me to do it, well at least when I have coffee first.

Also, how does one become part of the "CRC" club?
