Well, I thought I'd make it before midnight but no such luck tonight. A long 4 hours of shuttling food around the Lou on a cold, dark, rainy night. But I'm home and the shave is done. The gods were gracious, mostly, tonight as they only handed me one oddball item of the four. The Soviet Mladost razor, which is a TTO non-adjustable that isn't horrible by any means. Just a bit wonky on loading and door operation. It's not the same quality as the Consul, but better than most I've found from that era. The choice of the Perma-Sharp blade, though, was very nice. One of the best of the St. Pete blades from Russia. Very sharp, very smooth, and paired well with the razor.
The lather was D.R. Harris Marlborough from the shave stick. Always fun to use a stick. And, with the JR54 brush the lather popped to live with almost no effort. Plus, because I had just soaked the brush in hot water the lather was also nice and warm. A nice warm up from the earlier time out in the cold rain.
Three full passes and enough fluffy and slick lather left to share with everyone. Near-BBS, very comfy, silent alum, hard to beat that for a finish. Happy Monday everyone! Hope it's a great start to a short holiday week for those of us in the U.S. For the rest of you - hope it's a great start to a regular week. Or, if you want to do some celebrating - we're having our traditional (since last year) ham, beans and cornbread on Thursday here.
