  2. Another informative write up, John. I also had a pre '50 Gold ball end Tech. I ended up donating it to the first Shavey awards as I couldn't tell a difference in it from my '51 Canadian ball end.
Entertaining write up as always, Joseph. I look forward to your den clearing! I have a few different splashes (Reserve Cool comes to mind) that separate after sitting awhile. A shake gets them right again.
  3. Happy Monday everyone! I'm down on the Gulf Coast right now for a few days and haven't been able to chime in much. Haven't shaved since Saturday morning either. Great shaves and photos! I will shave later today and hopefully will be able to post.
  4. Away with you, Charlie! You no longer amuse me. Guards, take him to the lower dungeon and bring me a new court jester!
  5. Thank you, Jason. My shave gear was on my wife's jewelry box for the photo.
    Thanks, Charlie. HiYa!
    Great picture, Joseph.

  6. Did I forget to write that? Silly me.
I'm worried that it is an attractant...
    Old, yes. Money, maybe.
I'm not a hater, but probably not a Pinaud lover, either.
Only if used by middle aged, married mechanics.

Ironically, my mother has a pristine 100 year old Pinaud bottle in the familiar shape, complete with glass stopper. I'd gleefully take it off her hands and fill it with Clubman if given the chance...I hope I don't get it for a long time, though.

  7. Welcome to the Crew, David!
A great start to the week, Neal!
Glad to see you and the R41 are getting along a little better, Terry!
Beautiful photo Clint! Love the Jade Soap Destroyer!
Beautiful shot, Jim! Missed the Blackbird while it was away huh ?
Fantast shot Jim! The New is one of the best vintage razors ever made!
    Great shave, Charlie!
Beautiful shot, Jason! Love that brush handle! ‘Middle Aged and Married’ Pinaud vibe.
That is a cool case, John! Tech shave, nuff said! I think this is the first I've seen of your 30DCLE brush, looks nice with the Pure Badger knot!
Fantastic shave, Joseph! Never seen a separation like that, hopefully it doesn't end up effecting the performance.
  8. Thank you, Gentlemen.
  9. Thanks, Andrew. I'm going all Blackland this month so I needed to get a few shaves in with the Blackbird. The Vector is coming out to play tomorrow.

Simpson's Chubby 2 "The Soap Destroyer" (27mm, Destroyer Class)
    Stirling Hot Apple Cider Soap
    Homemade Tangerine AS

Happy Monday morning friends! After two months of shaving with some of the most aggressive razors out there it was really nice to step back to something a little more mild and much much smoother. The ATT R1 base plate has just enough blade feel to let you know where the blade is and that it's doing its job. After a nice heavy loading with the Soap Destroyer I was able to whip up a bowl full of creamy, shiny, slick Stirling lather. Three easy, smooth, passes with a couple of extra swipes on the jawline brought home the baby. The Stirling Hot Apple Cider soap does contain cinnamon oil, but it didn't really make its presence known until the third pass with just a mild tingle. I finished with some of my homemade tangerine AS for a nice shot of citrus at the end. Have a great day my friends!
  11. Great shave and report, Andrew! The brush is beautiful.

  13. My 30DC LE brush actually had its photo debut yesterday with the 60's Tech. I love the look of it also and consider myself blessed to have been included.

The case is very interesting. PU Leather with a magnetic catch. It's sized about right for a 3-piece razor with a normal length/diameter handle. I actually ordered two more from a 11.11 sale on Aliexpress but they won't be here for a bit. If you don't mind the shipping delay, they can usually be had for around $3.50 from the Chinese sellers.
  14. Well drive on over to the Lou! Although I was informed last night that there's apparently a menu change. I think she's just cooking the ham now for a more "traditional" meal and adding the bone and other remnants to the collection for ham and beans. Not sure why the change but smart men don't always ask questions.
  15. Razor: Red-Tip
    Blades: Astra
    Brush: Thater 4292 series
    Soap: Meissner Reramonia
Aftershave: Sophisticated Man by Pete's Pipes. Okay, so this is really a home brew in an Avon decanter. It's a leather / tobacco scent

    Notes:

    1. I know many love the Astra's. I have much better luck with Gillette branded blades.
    2. I've never been big on badger brushes, though thought I should try a really nice one since I'm now in the shaving business. What I didn't know when I bought the Thater is that the 4292 series is the softest of very soft with little backbone and the 4125 has more backbone. I like backbone.

  16. Terry, I noticed that you are using Feather blades for the 30 day rule. I've learned how to shave with an R41 and wouldn't use Feather blades unless I wanted a whopper daddy challenge.
  17. I could go along with that......fact, I DO :))
