  2. Considering The Gillette Slide gives much the same angled scything geometry when used with DE, SE, even SR I think you're right about the gimmickness. There may be something happening when the blade is torqued and twisted, but it's a minor effect since all cap & base or TTO DE razors hold a blade in much the same manner.

  4. Thanks, Clint. I will try to although I celebrated Thanksgiving in October as all rational people do, so today is just a normal day for me. ;). Sort of. Spending part of it at a seminar - got to get those mandatory hours of Continuing Professional Development every year somehow after all.

Do wish Maya a Happy Birthday from all of us. Glad she is able to celebrate this one pain-free after her superb surgery and physio results since the last one.

    RR XXX~~Morris & Forndran Polo 2~~'38 Gillette Senator~~Schick Krona
Starting with today's shave is my next "NO Variation" soap/AS gear.
Interesting that since I returned to traditional wet shaving, I have "titanced" my way through a number of soaps,
but this'll be the fourth time RR XXX has been the subject.
Right away, I noticed a big difference compared to Mystic Water.

First and foremost, there is no "gooeyness". The RR loads quickly and easily.
    Slickness is very comparable; p
    ost shave as well.
The "colonia" scent is extremely pleasing. I have some of the original Acqua di Colonia, and the RR
is a very close "dupe" of the scent.

The Senator and the Schick Krona combined for a smooth, effortless shave.
    No nicks, cuts nor weepers.
The AS and the ASM are my original bottles.
    They will
probably last through the rest of the month.
    Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

  11. November 22, 2018- NOthing But Techs

    Razor: Post-War NDC Gold Tech
    Blade: 7 o'Clock Permasharp Stainless (4)
    Brush: Razorock Plissoft 22
    Soap: Stirling Sheep
    Post: Alum, Listerine, WH

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Just a quick SOTD before we head off to the relatives...

So, where was I before the Canadian mystery? Oh, yes... the Gold Rush!

Today's shave is with a razor that is pretty much the duplicate of Monday's- a Gold, post-War NDC from when the Pat Nos were still on the "PACKAGE" (i.e., before sometime in mid-1950). I purchased this one at the end of last month for the "rare cover" that came with it; that cover is now being used as a blade safe for my New Deluxe Tuckaway.

For a 70-year old razor, it's actually in pretty great shape and even has most of its original lacquer intact. (I guess the cover really protected it. :))

The shave was uneventful and issue-free, as good as I have come to expect from this combo despite the fact that the blade seemed to be showing its age slightly. All in all, a credit to the men and women who made these razors for our fathers and grandfathers.

That said, I need to ask a favor of the crew. As I said, this is a pretty nice razor, a duplicate of one that has gone by already, and almost as nice as the one in the On Deck Circle. So, would any of you have a use for this razor, either for yourself or someone you are trying to convert? Let me know, I'd like to PIF this to someone who would get more regular enjoyment from it than I would.

  12. It has a very good scent to it and it pairs up great with the col conk amber. The smells that I mainly pick up on is a citrus and floral with a light musk. That bottle is a cologne, but I have the bottle of aftershave on my wish list that is with mrs76. And as an added bonus it was 50% off at srd.

  17. It was nothing, nothing at all. Fortunately that bench was there when I needed my nap. And....thanks to that sexy pose - I did receiver a few offers of dates. My wife made a quick end to that but it's nice to know I'm still sexy.

  18. Thank you John. On a down note Maya might have injured her hip again playing soccer at a sorority event. We have her scheduled for a MRI during Christmas break. I hope and pray is a muscular issue and not structural.
