Great shave this morning. Very smooth finished results, like yesterday...fortunately without the weepers today. A heavy-handed splash of Clubman to finish off...

Hope everyone had a great day!

It’s easy to see how the inventory can run away from you. A soap here, another there...

I’m anxious to see your shave report tomorrow. :)

I had it setup to go with the #2 plate and then decided to go with #3 plate for tomorrow. Interested to see how it goes.

I need to revisit plate 3. My one use with it wasn't very smooth, unlike plates 1 and 2 which were very smooth.
I'm going to finish out the month with my Blackland razors. At least I'll have stayed on focus for most of the month.

Razor - Gillette Ball End Tech
    Blade - astra-superior-stainless.jpg
    Soap - Fatbac
    Brush - Jayaruh #46
    Post - Alum

Interesting trivia fact, for me anyway. In all of the blade trials I've done in the past several years, I've never used the Astra Superior Stainless. The Superior Platinum? Use it every week for my head shave. Have over 100 of them in stock in my den. The Superior Stainless? Didn't even have a picture of the blade in my picture file - which is the proof I've never used it. The randomizer gave me this blade, the Gillette Tech, Fatback and the JR46. I'll have to send them a thank you note.

The Astra SP is a classically good and well known blade. Most people who look for Russian blades end up with some of them around and usually find them to be a very nice blade. Excellent, really. I could probably shave with just the SP and be happy, if a little bored. The SS? Well, it's definitely related. Same great sharpness. Perhaps a tad less smooth, but nothing to worry over. With the JR46 turning the Fatbac into its usual over the top slick and cushy lather, I only needed two passes and some touch up to get to the baby. Very nice result. Am I going to run out and put 100 of the SS blades on the wall next to the SP? No, but it is nice to know that if it says Astra on the label, it will be a great shave.

Disclaimer: Gillette St. Petersburg did not provide any monetary or other type of incentive for that last statement. That just rolled right out of my brain, down to my hands and out of the keyboard. However, if anyone from Gillette St. Petersburg would like to contact me about rights for that line - I'm all ears.

Very nice shave Neal. I agree - Astra blades are really very nice! 100 only sets a man back £8 shipped... Really exceptional value for a quality product. They are hugely popular on the UK based forums (due to their availability I think)! I will be buying another 100 of the SPs in the coming weeks! It was interesting to note the difference in smoothness due to a variation in the coating... I read the same thing about Voskhod blades being smooth because they are Teflon coated. Perhaps you have a preference for coated blades? The question is... Are Sharp Star coated?!

I have always liked PTFE (Teflon) from the beginning. Platinum has always worked well for me as well. And - Sharp Star blades are indeed a platinum coated blade.
