From what I’ve read, people give these blades a lot of praise for quality and longevity. Some can get 20+ shaves from a single blade. I personally have never tried these
i am waiting on a nos pack of gillette spoilers to see if they compare to new blades...i await your test drive,...
Very nice haul! Yes it can be repaired ... with a bit of patience and effort. I've done a few ... some are easier than others. Don't give up on it. PM me if you have any questions.
Just a couple of acquisitions this month. First up, a somewhat unusual Canadian pre-War Tech with a steel baseplate and English Bakelite handle:
Next up, the case from a US Service Set: It came to me as a mismatch with a New LC. It is currently housing a 1918 OT but will soon be off to @jimjo1031 for a complete relining.
Finally, my first-ever Rolls Razor: The plating has definitely seen better days, but it seems to be in overall good condition. The blade carries a date of 1947. The set included two sets of directions, including one written for shop workers. There was no handle but, fortunately, I have a one-piece that inexplicably came with my Canadian Khaki set. Obviously, it needs more cleanup but looks like it should be usable.
That is a beautiful brush! I would love to get pictures for the site. I'm guessing the brush ferrule could be replaced with a regular Bill Squat model since it was the original donor. That could breath a whole new life into this one. Jim
After a bit of reading I chose Proraso as my first sandalwood AS. Others leaned one way or another, but the Red is supposed to be closest to essential oil.
Was looking at an antique shop for some straights and came across a full bottle of shulton old spice, when the shop owner saw me looking at it she said “$10 and it’s yours.” On the way home I stopped into cvs and saw they had a bottle of pinaud for half price, I had not tried it yet so the price was right to give it a shot.
My replacement strop leather from Straight Razor Designs. I'm a little slow getting a photo snapped again. The mailman actually brought it on Sunday. A Christmas season thing I guess.
I picked up three razors this past weekend. Stuff I already had but I can't seem to resist good prices so these will probably be giveaways. A Schick L, an E2 Ball End Tech, and an O2 short handle Black Beauty. The Schick is in the best condition, the adjustable has a couple of tiny nicks on the handle and a small nick on one of the doors, and the Tech has some scratches. Two of them were $8 each (I don't remember which two) and the other was either $5 or $10 but I can't find one of the receipts so my shave accounting books will have to be fudged.
