I agree, Paul. It's most satisfying when I shave with a couple days of growth, but I don't like the bits of white stubble I start seeing on day two. I've never grown a beard, but I think I would turn into Santa Claus if I stopped shaving. :)

Oh, interesting. Part of why I asked is that I'm seeing some sales on boars(but not badgers).

lol....I'm friends with our town's "Santa". Poor fellow can only enjoy 3 months per year as being clean-shaven. He's a great Santa, but looks a lot better clean-shaven.

Thanks Andrew. Once I am positive the Supply is staying I will be ordering some more blades from you. Honestly, I think Supply would be better served to ship the razor with Proline blades instead of the Personna blades.

That's wonderful, Perry. I could take lessons from you in diet, exercise, and maintaining a healthy weight, that's for sure. Like you, I'm blessed to have a wonderful Bride that's not only a great cook but also totally supports me in my journey to better health.

I think it is much easier to get a super nice boar brush for a great price. Just look at Omega brushes. Tons of great choices around the $20-25 mark. Badger brushes can range from soft and floppy to scrubby with backbone. Thus badgers require the buyer to know what they want and find a brush to ticks the right boxes.

Thanks Andrew. I've got some bigger skin flaps I'd like to remove, but I ain't brave enough to shave in those places. ;)

    RazoRock XXX~~Simpson CH2 SiLVERTiP~~1964 Gillette Tech~~Feather
    :innocent:innocent:innocent:innocent:innocent:innocent:innocent:innocent:innocent:innocent:innocent
Not going to talk about the RazoRock XXX this morning, getting rather boring.
Suffice it to say it was an excellent part of the equation.
Let's talk about the "lowly" 1964 Zamak Gillette Tech.

This razor sold for $.49 in 1964. Adjusted for inflation, that is $3.91 in today's money.
    My Weishi cost me $20 + S&H!
$3.91 will barely get you anything today, but back then look what you got.
A razor that held the blade securely.
A solid handle with excellent knurling.
    Nice ergonomics.
When you add a quality razor blade, what you end up with is one heck of a shaving apparatus.
Nowadays, you can't find a razor that will shave you any better than this one.

@Bama Samurai posted something interesting the other day. He said, and I am paraphrasing:
There hasn't been any real razor innovation for over 50 years. I would not only agree,
but also posit that it might even be much longer than that.

This post should not be construed as me knocking our members, who choose to own high end razors.
I am not. I hope that is clear!

I was simply amazed how well the "lowly", $.49 Gillette Tech performed.

I am having a pretty good day Charlie. I am working out of my office which is less stressful than working at a client site.

My wife has lost 40 pounds on Weight Watchers. Her goal is to maintain through the holidays and then set a new goal in January. That has been solely through better food and eating.

November 29, 2018- NOthing But Techs

    Razor: P3 (3Q69) Gillette Tech/Ball-End Handle
    Blade: 7 o'Clock Permasharp Stainless (4)
    Brush: Razorock Plissoft 22
    Soap: Stirling Sheep
    Post: Alum, Listerine, WH

It's the penultimate day of the month and this is the penultimate Tech shave, a Tech from the third quarter of 1969. I picked this one up for the mismatched Fat Handle that came with it. That handle moved on to one of my pre-War Techs and was replaced with a Brass ball-end handle from another parts lot. Technically, it's still a mismatch since the handle is more appropriate to the previous generation of Tech (as opposed to an Aluminum handle like the one on the razor I used a few days ago). I actually prefer this handle, however, because of its additional weight.

No surprises with the shave; everything was just smooth and issue-free.

Wonderful report, Joseph! Hard to fathom a razor that good only being $3.91 today. Incredible how times change.

Excellent photo and report Joseph. It would be a nice to examine the books and see what the true profit margin on Gillette razors was at the time. I am curious is they were not sold at a loss or break even in order to sell blades. Which is what they do now with cartridge razors. The blade holder is a throw in item.

That was a nice "mix of sorts". :). I had to be Santa a couple times(long story). Forgot to buy my joke shop beard.
