Remember - "Decadent" does not equal "expensive" or "fancy". It means the gear, setups, etc. that make you feel like a king. Your focus on lather is perfect because, quite frankly, it's often the lather that makes a shave decadent or just "normal" or even horrible. A razor is, at the end of the day, just the thing that holds a blade so we can use it to shave. Sure some of them are high dollar eye-candy made of unobtanium, rubies and unicorn made steel - but they still hold a blade. Really, that's it. I can tell you this - as much as I'd love to find that bottom dial Fatboy and make it my precious - the shaves from it wouldn't really be any better than from a basic super speed unless one or both of the following are a part of it. 1. My technique is impeccable, and 2. The lather is awesome.

Despite knowing that, at the moment, I get my best shaves when shaving every other day. I decided that I would shave on consecutive days and see what happens. I got an excellent shave, but my face is feeling less than optimal. You know things aren't great when you get a bit of a burn from Nivea Sensitive. No weepers, no major issues, just a little burning sensation and a small amount of irritation on my neck that will have cleared up by morning. I'll skip a day next time!

Good morning!

The alphabet has paired B&M with Blackland for this morning's shave and the next few morning's as well. I'll be using the 30DCLE V1.* for the first time, such a beautiful brush! Another first is a Gem razor, the Blackland Sabre.

Love the ergonomics of my new brush! Thank you again, Jason @jtspartan .

First couple of strokes with the Sabre weren't very smooth and produced a weeper. Seems I'm not the master of the feather light touch I thought I was. Lightened up even more, not even letting the weight of the razor do its work. Smooth sailing for the rest of the shave. Three passes and I'm dolphin smooth. A little warmth from the alum. All said and done a very nice first shave with this razor.

Decadent shave this morning…mostly. I don’t know how many shaves were on the blade in the Karve, but as soon as the shave started, it was a bit tuggy. Thinking there might need to be a little more water in the lather, more was added while lathering for the second pass. Plenty of slickness from the soap…but still a little rough for the second pass. Ok, Mr. Voskhod…I get the hint. You’re retired and don’t wanna play anymore.

Aside from the tired blade, face lathering with The Weapon was delightful. And, the end result, also wonderful.

My first shave of Decadent December, and I had to try out this new soap. I've heard a lot of praise for Grooming Dept soaps, so I was eager to try it out. Thanks to a little extra enabling by @BaylorGator, I bought this tub just before Thanksgiving using a few Black Friday funds. The big thing I have heard of this soap is it has a great post shave feel, and I would say this is definitely true. The best post shave feel I have tried has been Nuavia followed closely by the donkey milk base Wholly Kaw soaps. This is definitely right up there with the Wholly Kaw. I may use some Decadent December shaves to compare the two, as I couldn't pick a winner between them at moment. I only had a couple of samples of Nuavia kindly provided by, @clint64, so I will not be able to compare this one again, but IMO, anyone would be happy with either Wholly Kaw or Grooming Dept. The scent of this one is very soapy with a smokey finish, which I find to be very interesting. All in all this seems like a top quality soap after one shave, of course more are needed for science.

I didn't shave yesterday as I got busy with activities. Looks like some great pictures, though. I'll have to go get caught up at some point. I hope everyone has a great Sunday!

No shave yesterday; DW was not feeling well. We ended up going to the ER and she was admitted with Pneumonia.

Today was a quick shave with one of my two B1 Repeaters, always a favorite razor. Cost-wise, they seem to be the sweet spot if you want to get in on them. A models aren't that common on the 'Bay and C models seem to pull big numbers. I haven't seen enough B2 models to know where they sit.

I apparently hit a sweet spot on hydration of the Sheep today as it suddenly became immensely slicker than I had been seeing previously.

All in all, a great shave.

Go out of the woods late from hunting, now running very late!
Have to be on time!
Ran through a shower, 3x3 shave, get dressed and out the door at lighting speed. Doing this is not for the faint of heart. Took just a very few (3 or 4) miniutes for face and head, start to finish. Got 3 yes 3 weepers during the sprint to the finish line. One on the neck, one on the chin, and one on the head. Small but I took no chances, I grabbed the styptic stick rubbed it around then slothered on the Nivea. The razor was still smoking when I cleaned it up, quickly cleaned it up. The blade warped from the heat, oh my
I still have a clean smooth shave,
considering the rush. So I'm good to go. Gona be a long day.
No, I didn't even see a deer this morning.
Oh how I hate rushing!
Wrote this durring lunch, Burger King.

Aaron @ordinaryshaver - the choice of blades for Schick injectors is somewhat limited. Fortunately there are current production blades of decent quality coming from China hence the nickname "Chicks". They can be purchased from many suppliers. Here's a link to a Buy It Now (BIN) from the bay so you can see the package. Shop around for multiple pack discounts.

I've heard of folks purchasing other blades and loading them into an empty injector cartridge. Anyone wanna speak on that subject?

Thank you, Jim! It's really good stuff...and provided you enjoy the scent of leather, also awesome! My only quibble is that the scent doesn't hang around long enough. The soap base is excellent. Very slick and cushioning. Like most artisan soaps, it's thirsty.

What will be the most decadent part of your December shaves?

My razor(s). Seriously - I'm bringing the finest of the fine.

My soaps/cremes. Seriously - Gonna be so luxurious I may be unable to talk.

My aftershaves/balms. Seriously - Almost too good to even use without being arrested.

My cookies. Seriously - I'm drooling just thinking about those cookies.

My donuts. Seriously - You think I drool over cookies? Check this out!

My ice cream. Seriously - when you have ice cream who needs cookies and donuts?

Just looking at my beautiful self in the mirror. Seriously - who could ask for anything more?
