Tuesday, December 11 RazoRock XXX~~Mondial 26mm~~1955 A4 Gillette Red Tip~~Polsilver SI Have a great day!
Tim, I got both and use the big one most, the smaller one photographs better, but the big bowl is so easy to get results with quickly. I will say though, these were my first foray into scuttles and I have my eye on Georgetown Pottery's G12 model.
Yeah, I love the scuttle. I like my aqua-blue custom 2-piece scuttle more though because the top bowl is removable and can be used as a lather bowl with a smaller sink footprint. If I were able to make scuttles by hand, I would design a 2-piece scuttle with a custom rubber ring (bound with adhesive) around the contact point. My current 2-piece has to be handled with care since there is no protective bumper in place. And it's a little noisy with the 'clank, clank' when I move the scuttle around. So, I tend to lather in the bowl first, then put the bowl on top of the scuttle to keep the lather warm.
Could you treat the underside mating surface of the top piece with a think layer of silicon calk and create your own isolator/gasket?
Perhaps a large O-ring would do the trick. If it fit snug enough, no need for adhesive. I believe some home water filtration systems use large O-rings.
I suppose I could. but there is potential for the product to dry unevenly and cause it to look odd when resting. The layer would need to be thin to prevent an odd height. I've tried a few DIY ideas and found that the barrier would have to be pretty thin for it to look right.
