DEcember 11th Travel SOTD ‘51 Canadian Tech w Nacet (1) Fine Platinum SS Omega Boar/ Walnut Thayers Booster Polar Ice AS Quick 2 pass shave today. First use of this soap and it produced a nice lather. Someone said ‘smoky pineapple’ and I can see why. The brush still has a little breaking in to do. Have a great day all!
Nice shave Jason! BTW some other soaps that are inspired by Creed Aventus are Stirling Executive Man, RazoRock Emperor, DG Sellout, Captains Choice Venture, Van Yulay Success, Gingers Garden Aventus Type, Viking Soaps Ragnar, A&E Spartacus, and a few other I'm sure. As you can see its quite the popular scent and for good reason. Executive Man is my favorite Stirling cologne dupe offering.
December 11, 2018 Razor: L4 Gillette Tech Blade: Chinese Gillette Super Blue Blade (3) Brush: Razorock Plissoft 22 Soap: Stirling Sheep Post: Alum, Listerine, WH Third shave with the Chinese Gillette Blue Blade. For today, I decided to step it up a bit and try a razor very similar to the one bundled with the blade- a 60s Tech with an Aluminum handle. Personally, I find this version a bit more aggressive than the two previous generations of Tech. And the shave? Much smoother than the two previous shaves. Pretty much a BBS with only some residual irritation from previous shaves. It was interesting to see how this blade smoothed out today. I'm assuming that one of two things occurred: 1) This is one of those blades that really prefers a more aggressive razor. (I think @NCoxSTL has seen a few in his blade trials.) or 2) This may be one of those blades that needs a shave or two to come into its own. Either way, it was a pleasant surprise.
Gillette reply to my question about Chinese Gillette license from Gillette U§ part of a world wide company. Thanks Gillette.
There do seem to be blades that prefer a more aggressive razor, and some that work better in mild setups. I'll have to give that blade a try.
Terrific picture, Andrew! My daughter caught me looking at the Yaqi brushes the other day, she really likes them.
