  11. Thank you Perry. I think the day will be fine. I just got in a rush and needed to remember slow with no mistakes is faster.

Asha will be able to come home for this break. She flies in on Saturday afternoon.

I hope you have a great Friday.

  14. December 14th
    Razor: Blackland Sabre L2
    Blade: Personna Gem PTFE (4)
    Brush: Yaqi High Mountain Silvertip
    Pre-shave: Stirling Mentholated
Soap: CK Atomic Age Bay Rum
    Stirling Bay Rum witch hazel
AS: CK Atomic Age Bay Rum

    Good morning!

Terrific shave from the Sabre L2! Three pass BBS with just a tickle from the alum.

The Yaqi ends my no repeat run through my brushes. I'll be doing a no focus focus for the rest of the month grabbing whatever brush strikes my mood.

    Have a great, Friday! [IMG]

12/14/18 - Another awesome shave this morning.

Three days growth – I got lazy yesterday morning and did not shave.

Oneblade Synthetic Brush – 20mm knot
    Palmolive Sensitive Shave Cream
    Salsa\Timeless bowl scuttle
    Rockwell 6S
    Voskhod Blade
Nivea Men Sensitive Post Balm Shave
    Pinaud Clubman Aftershave Lotion

I had three days growth and the Rockwell handled it with no problem. No nicks or weepers. Just a nice close comfortable shave.

Two passes with plate 5 and finished up with plate 3. Applied some Nivea post balm shave and followed up a few minutes later with the Pinaud Clubman Aftershave.

I am really enjoying the Oneblade synthetic brush.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

  19. +1!
Thanks Gary. We're in this together.
Thanks Jason. It gets better. I'm keeping medicated for my stuffy head, and now the kids have a stomach flu.

Thanks Patrick. I might do a Proraso Green preshave, too. Daughter picked up an over the counter product that's letting me breathe.

    Thank you Bruce!

    Thanks Perry!

One would think that after 60 days of using up three soaps/AS, Primo would relish in the variety again...
    But, noooooooo.....:rolleyes005:
I have to figure this soap out and after today's shave, I am more informed than I was yesterday, and it's not pretty.

Let's start with the price: $36.95 + shipping.
That works out to just under $7.00/oz. Not cheap by anyone's standards.
Compare that to RazoRock XXX's price of $9.99 for 5oz. Under $2.00/oz. Wow.
The biggest question is whether or not the significant price difference is worth it?
Do you actually get a soap that is 3 1/2x as good :signs002:
BTW, for those who are interested, here is a picture of the ingredients:
    colonia-003_1024x1024.jpg
Since water content was an issue yesterday, I decided to bowl lather so I could better control the hydration.

For those who paid attention to yesterday's post, you will recall that said I was not going to bloom the soap.
Well, I didn't, but I did add 3-4 droplets of water to the puck before showering. Can't really call that a bloom.
With a soaked and wrung-out brush, I loaded the soap.
I would say I loaded for about 45-60 seconds. Closer to 45.
I then started the bowl lather with my Aesop SS bowl.
Twice during the lathering process, I emptied the breach and dipped the brush into water.
In addition, I also added water to the mix.
I was able to get a shinier lather than yesterday, but still not what I have seen one particular fellow
achieve on a video on another forum. In fact, on the forum that sells and commissioned this product.
    Here are my results:
    IMG_8773.jpeg
    To the face...
No face-lathering, simply painted on lather. (That's my litmus test)
A fresh Personna 74 (one of THE smoothest blades I know) inserted into my '11 R41 (Might as well really push the envelope)
First pass...na ja, a bit draggy, but not awful, but definitely not what I have come to expect from a Personna 74.

Passes two and three were performed without incident and without any improvement in slickness.
After the final rinse, I towel-dried my face and while I was cleaning up, my face felt really taut.
Now, some people with wrinkles (Primo has baby-soft skin) might think: yes! But not I.
My face was really dry. Post-shave with this soap, excuse my French, SUCKS.
So here are my issues with this product that relegate it to the "no repurchase" category.
    Slickness: Really weak.
    Post-Shave: Really bad.
    Price Point: Ridiculous.
I haven't even reiterated my disappointment with the scent. I stand by yesterday's assessment:
    Hotel Soap Scent.
THE saving grace vis-à-vis my trade of a new bottle of Floïd Blue.
I paid about $13 for the bottle. Shipped to the trader for $10.
So I am in this soap and aftershave for about $23.
IF I had paid retail (almost $70) I would be fit to be tied.

As it is, I am only lamenting the loss of a discontinued bottle of Floïd.
Luckily, I have two backups and a 2/3 full bottle in the den.
    Conclusion:
Buy a tub of RR XXX and the matching AS.
    Far better, far cheaper.
    That's all folks.

PS. I would consider posting this review on the merchant's website, but it would NEVER get printed.
