Happy to be back home. Had time for a relaxing weekend shave earlier today. Picked the Felce Aromatica for a few reasons- 1. It is often my weekend choice and 2. There has been some discussion of SV bases, performance and scents lately.

@Primotenore mentioned how soft his Beta 4.3 based Colonia was for a triple milled soap. I grabbed all my triple milled soaps and did an ‘unscientific’ comparison for hardness. I have two pucks of Fine- L’Orange Noir and Platinum, Tabac and Valobra in addition to this puck. The Tabac and L’Orange Noir were hardest. Virtually no give. The SV was next -a little give- and the Valobra and Platinum were a bit softer. Why would the two Fine pucks be different hardness? My guess is because I’ve had the L’Orange Noir for over a year and it is kept in a wooden bowl that isn’t totally airtight. The Platinum is new and is in a screw top tub. Anyway, the Platinum and Valobra were definitely softer than the SV, no question.
I had another outstanding shave with this wonderfully scented soap and this large chubby brush. I’ll keep the Aristocrat Jr. going for a few more days with this new Polsilver in it. I call this a Decadent combo.
Postshave feel on this soap is more than acceptable. Joseph, I think that the SV Asylum branded Colonia -for whatever reason- just doesn’t seem to be the same quality of product as this 4.3 base Felce Aromatica. Of course these aren’t true side by side comparisons, but much as the Valobra Fougere seems to have some variance from puck to puck, I think that may be the case here. Even in terms of hardness.
Have a great weekend all!
