  1. I love when you break out the Dad Schick stories. I agree that I see no reason why there would be that nice a case and that nice a razor that just happen to get together, I bet original.

  2. Well this E2 made the scene today, so without further adieu...
    [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

I just cannot believe the condition of this razor. It really looks like it has never been used. I've never owned a Vintage Schick with the gold in this virgin state...Almost feel bad using it...NOT!!!

To say this is one SMOOTH shaving E2, is such an understatement. But the E types are kind of famous for marrying "close" with "smooth" in the same razor.

I'll do a separate Maiden Voyage Review..
I don't want this post to be too long.

  3. Stroke by Stroke Review

    First thoughts
#1: Damn!!! Too pretty! I'm ready to start writting poetry and stuff....Whew!

I did a scrubbing bubble wash anyway just to be sanitary...

The Black WWII blade dispenser is full and the blades are a little rusted inside.

The red WWII GI Issue leather clamshell case shows no use. It snaps like a bear-trap. The corners show where the case has maybe rubbed a little from being in a drawer, kind of wear.

The razor really hasn't been used hardly at all. I've had brand new razors that looked more used that this one.

    THE SHAVE

This is an E2..but the first model that doesn't open. I paired it with a Schick Proline B20 blade that I just got from Andrew's Shave Shop on Etsy.

Lather was made using Arko and a Gary Carrington refurbed Stag badger brush of the same vintage as the razor.

Lather was fantastic. Whiskers were a three day grow...and asking for trouble...

First stroke...I noticed, very clearly...felt like there was no blade in the razor! I was a little schocked but I finished the left side of my face in a normal fashion.

I'm not kidding...That side of my face...forget whisker reduction...it was a fine shave...almost BBS! And it felt like there was NO BLADE!

I finished the WTG pass, and I really could have splashed on a little Clubmans and it would have been a great shave.

I did an ATG pass and the following witch hazel Fuzzy jawline touch up...and I had myself a fullblown Polished BBS.

This E2 reminds me of my F type. Aggressive, Smooth, and veddy veddy kind to my skin.

I don't want to jump to a one shave conclusion...But this could be a contender for King of the Cave...}8^)) At the least, a solid contender!!

I an veddy veddy happy right now!

    Great Shaves For Everyone!!

    Tabac A/S Lotion

The Supply with this blade is now really delivering excellent Shaves, just glad I persevered. I was going to pass it on but not now, as it will figure more in Injector rotations.

The GEM blade is much smoother after a few shaves. Close comfortable shave today and no irritation. Cold water shaving with a rigid blade has made such a difference.

Within the space of less than a week the Supply has gone from being a mediocre Injector Razor to a Top Notch one,
simply by changing the blade I use. Though the Shave was again excellent, like many I seem to enjoy Shaving more
with a frequent change of Razors.

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Eureka Shaving Soap face lathered well with the Jayaruh #18 brush. I did two passes with the Gem Jr. Bar Lather Catcher Razor with an Original Gem Cutlery SE blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Aqua Velva 5 in 1 AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

  19. Good Sunday morning to you all, Thanks for all the research that got me here to these great razor forums. Gem(ASR) was not as big a name in rural Canada IMO like Schick and the giant Gillette but in the larger cities they were there no doubt.
Razor: Gem 1912 (MFG1921> this one) great razor and it does a better job than a lot of my other brands that are not Gem.
