Snow here tonight. Didn't get tree finished . Picked out a bigger tree and well....needed more lights so off we went to buy more . Will finish tomorrow I guess and I promise a pic of the finished product.
Razor today is another Canadian Shick E2 which I purchased from @jimjo1031 during the den cleaning sale . I almost felt bad for taking it off his hands until I tried it. Aggressive as heck and that's what I like . But also so so smooth at the same time . This one has bakelite handle . I will give it a good home .

  7. Decadent December!!

Razor - Gillette NEW LC (Delta Echo)
    Blade - voskhod-teflon-coated.jpg (1)
Soap - Stirling Port au Prince
    Brush - Jayaruh #46
    Post - Alum

Well, this was not the setup I skipped a shave for, but it will do nicely. Very late night tonight, I'm tired, still things to do before I can sleep, so my original idea got pushed back a couple of days. We'll get back to it. This setup, though, is perfectly timed since we have a Raffle going on this month. The brush, the JR46, was one of the prizes in a raffle probably a year and a half ago or so. I was lucky enough to be drawn first pick and I took that brush first off the pile of goodies. The razor? Well, as it happened, the very next raffle I was again drawn first and that gorgeous razor was available. It went first in that raffle. I think I'm about due to be picked first again so I already have my eye on the prize this raffle. Just in case. Nope, no hints.

Anyway, the NEW LC is one of Gillette's better ideas and paired with a Voskhod it's a sure winner. I went with the Stirling Port au Prince, a mutton tallow soap, partly because it was sitting there and also it's in the Marvy rubber mug. The main items in this shave are definitely in the realm of decadent. We'll let the Marvy mug bask in the glory as well. It is a classic, after all.

Two passes, some touch up, a very nice DFS that could have been BBS with a full third pass.....but I'm beat. I'm happy with the shave and with that - I'll put the 17th to bed about 28 minutes late. Happy Tuesday everyone!

  12. Congrats on picking up the E2, Patrick. It's a beauty!
  13. Thank you!
    It works, plain and simple.
I like things that work :).
    I highly recomend doing it.
For no other reason than you never have done a 30DF. The last 5 or so days are the best, by far.

Hmmm. What's this Stirling Soap you speak of? Don't think I've seen anyone use that brand before. :happy068:

    Get some rest, my friend.

  15. Great shave and photo, Rick! Such a cool brush....:)
  16. Thank you, Patrick!
  17. Wise choice to wait until 2020, Paul. You'll want to pick up a 2019 Lincoln since they're bringing back the suicide doors. It will pair well with your '63 Thug. Wait 'till the girls at the Piggly Wiggly find out...
    1.jpg 2.jpg
Note: Coach doors on a Lincoln open wide to air out the cabin after an extended ride with passengers sporting Clubman aftershave...so you've got that goin' for you too.

  18. December 18th
    Razor: Blackland Sabre L2
    Blade: Personna Gem PTFE (1)
    Brush: Yaqi High Mountain Silvertip
    Pre-shave: Stirling Mentholated
    Soap: GD Before the Fire
    Stirling Orange Chill witch hazel
    AS: Fine American Blend

    Good morning!

Excellent three pass shave to start the day. BBS with silent alum. Well, mostly silent. I did nick the underside of my nose well getting up under the nostrils. Cold water and alum stopped the bleeding.

First use of a Grooming Dept soap. This one is tallow and duck fat. Scent is just ok to me. Performance is where this soap shines. Slickness is top notch. One of the slickest I've used. The Sabre slide around my face with ease.

    Have a great day![IMG]
