I used to use this when I was in college back in the 60's. I don't remember seeing it in stores any more. Mainly I used it because it was cheap and I liked the lime smell. It also had Rapid Shave in the name.
The " new" stuff ain't bad at all. I really like it, and it gives me more residual slickness than some soaps. I find that it works great with any brush type as well.
So I tried this Palmolive cream (non-menthol) last night and it's pretty good. The thing that really stood out was the elasticity of the lather. It's got a stretch to it like marshmallow cream! Also, the amount of lather produced was huge. I had enough left over after my shave for another 2 passes. Slickness is fine, so is the cushion. Scent is like a basic bar soap- Dial or Zest...something along those lines. Medium scent strength. For $4.89 (shipping from UK included) it's worth having around. I'll use it from time to time.
It is for sure a staple in my den. When I go on a business trip or vacation, I pack it when I know I want to get a lather and not worry with it. It is simple easy to use and cheap. I also like the shave sticks as well.
When I first started wet shaving about 5yrs ago now. I had a tube of the European Palmolive. It was a great performer. But both times after I was done shaving my face would break out like I had wiped it with poison ivy for the next 2hrs. Have a shave stick. But have yet to try it. Kind of scared I may break out again. Are the scent of the European cream and shave stick similar?
