1. Heads up. ENABLEMENT COMING!

Saw on Twitter that The Superior Shave in Jacksonville Florida was having a little sale.

Prices (below cost) like you are unlikely to see again on Wacker, Dovo, Boker, Simpsons....

On a quick look this afternoon I saw Wacker Barbers Bride for 139, Dovo Sunday Shavers 99+, Dovo Bismarcks 99, Simpson Chubby 3 Super 189. When I looked a few minutes ago it looked like the Barbers Brides were gone. Get your stuff quick if you are Holiday shopping.

Max Headroom is already after me to get him a $99 Bismarck because the Lovely Mrs Headroom won't let him have his 2nd Sunday Shaver til Christmas.

Saw an incredible deal on a Wacker 7 day set? (oh do I wish)

I'd recommended The Sunday Shaver to anyone.

    Happy Holidays gang.

  4. Cool razor Jason. Does it happen to say St. Louis or Austin on the back side? I believe they started in Austin, TX (haven't seen too many of those) and moved to St Louis in early 1900's.

  6. Guessing it places that razor in the teens or twenties... a cool 90-100 year old beauty! Congrats.
  7. Nice surprise...

Always liked the shape and saw this one come up:

I was expecting a 6/8-13/16 razor based on past ones I had seen, but the proportions in the auction did look “different” - so had to take a chance. :)
    Pretty happy with what arrived:

This thing is solid, and the girth of the frame caught my attention.

Turned out to be a full 5/16” wide frame. Just a cool razor, nice surprise, and happy to be the new caretaker!
    Have fun out there.

I bought this one, because I liked the "Mother Of Pearl", as well as, Silver Braid and wire inlay. I dusted off some grime, and rust. Then, I polished it up a little. It is already "tree topping" arm hairs. But, it will need some time on the hones. PC170681.JPG

  9. It seems like you’re buying less rat-razors these days? Are you changing your M.O. or are you just getting lucky lately? lol

    Love that mother of pearl!

  10. Oh, it was ratty, I just prettified it a little, before taking a pic.
I have some real ratty ones, but haven't posted them. I just dont have as much time, to work on razors, as I use to.

  11. What do you guys think, are the scales original to this Wade and Butcher? Lead wedge, MOP scales, best I come up with is maybe. I bought this razor for the scales but the blade certainly would be able to shave again. The edge has a few small chips but along the spine it's got some pretty good pits.

  12. I like the scales. I have no idea if they are original.

Virtually no hone wear, was the full 7/8” & figured it would be a fun restore. Spend some time with sand paper and it is getting close to where I can take it to the hones.

  16. Do you have any info (history) about your razor? It would be interesting. It's a beauty for sure.

  19. Thank you. Here is a link to where I believe is accurate info: https://historyrazors.wordpress.com/2016/09/22/r-saito-krg-ribbon-co/

Basically, Ryuichi Saito was a famous founder of Japanese hairdressing and barber schools in the 50’s/60’s. He seems to have licensed his name and designs to major manufacturers. This example has no other makers marks besides the SK1, while another one I have was made by Kikuboshi, a 165.

There is a SK1,2 &3 in descending amounts of curve. Still on the hunt for a SK2 :)... maybe eventually.

Definitely! But actually it isn’t that bad... just follow the wave. :santa
