  1. Great looking photo, Bruce. Sorry about today's shave with the Feather. I like using Feathers, but they are less forgiving to me than Russian steel. Thanks for the informative review (warning) about the Midnight Stag - PU!

  2. Excellent report and photo, Bruce!
I have no answer about the blades. I have never been a fan of GSB's. They never felt smooth to me. I started the month with a fresh one loaded into each of my DE's and got wonderful smooth shaves from each and every one. I have no idea what changed. If you figure it out let me know.

  4. Great photo and thank you Bruce! The only time I've gotten a weeper the the past two plus years is when using a Feather. That and because they feel like shaving with sandpaper on the first shave is why I don't use Feathers.

  5. Thank you, Charlie! Can't figure out what the deal is - or rather, what I'm doing wrong. I had a number of shaves prior using a GSB with zero issues. Midnight Stag is the only software I have that has conditions on it by my bride.I'm only allowed to use it when she's not around.

Thank you, Jim! For me, GSBs are one of the absolute smoothest blades I've tried, yet plenty sharp. I consider it to be the smoother, sharper brother to the Astras - which are also great blades. The only other ones I've tried that are as smooth as GSBs would be Voskhod. However, I don't find them to be quite as sharp as a GSB. Interesting how we all differ in our choices and perceptions.

  6. Thanks, Andrew!! Some folks love 'em...some hate 'em. What troubles me is, while I don't think I did anything different, why the difference in results? I'm more than happy to take the blame for poor technique, if that's what is causing the issues. Yet, to my knowledge, the technique was kept the same.

  7. It is interesting how we have different perspectives. The way Andrew describes first use Feathers is how I would've described Gsb's and I love first use Feathers. I need to revisit Voskhod as they've always felt tuggy to me.

  16. Awesome shave and pic, Mark! That brush is just a stunner.
How is that knot, Jim? It was a Shavey award from Randy. I didn’t use it, but my understanding is that it is a Maggards knot.
Arko? Might be time to give the hotel soap another go, John?:)
Good looking combo! Good luck with Natalia...
Awesome write up, Charlie! With you and Joseph being this verbose, I might have to step up my game.
Love the look of that rr handle, Andrew!
I look forward to your review on the soap.
Maybe a focus on the Mongoose, Brian?
A very good review of a soap we don’t see very often here, Joseph. Thank you.
Wow, another great write up! I think I’ll pass on the soap.... if swmbo thinks Gentleman smells like ‘a—‘, who knows what the response on this would be...

Another exceptionally early morning shave with an afternoon post. I enjoyed yesterday’s shave so much I decided to go with the same today with one small change. I changed back to the #3 plate. This blade and plate combo is the ticket for me. A fantastic drama free BBS shave. I hope everyone has a great Thursday.
