Saturday Straights' Shave Cold Water Wash L'Occitane Shaving Soap Jayaruh #2 Rocket 5/8 CWR Florida Water My prep was just a cold water rinse. The L'Occitane Shaving Soap face lathered well with the Jayaruh #2 brush. I did two passes with the Rocket 5/8 Razor and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Florida Water. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Love that blade - I was lucky to have that as my first straight. Welcome to the forum. Tom Oh, and we love pictures

It was my first traditional straight as well. I also have a Dovo 5/8 Best half hollow as well. I originally started out with a Dovo shavette. Eventually, I want to get one more straight to complete my den. Next year, I probably will get a Boker, an Aust or a Henckel. Yes, I know about RAD, but I think 3 traditional straights are enough for me.
Todays shave was with a German Made razor, that takes on a wickedly sharp edge. I had a silky smooth, 2 pass shave, that left me near BBS. Great razor. Everyone should own one, no matter the condition, as long as it can take an edge. Razor- Dubl Duck Special No 1. Brush- Omega 10098, Boar. Soap- Arko/Sandalwood Scented Aftershave- Vintage Shulton Old Spice. Mmmmmm Mmmmmm Good.
Took one of the Friday restorations to the hones and then to the face. Niki 14 I haven’t searched hard, and can’t say I have stumbled across this brand, but it is a 14 so the expectation is high. So nicely behaved on the hones - set a bevel quickly with a 4k. Then went quickly Naniwa 8k/12k, then Thuringian... wonderful Sunday. Enjoy your shave! Tom
It is not a custom, he has a line of non-customs that are priced at just expensive. Your Dovo Special is a very nice razor too. The fun about straight razors is that one can find a great razor for low price and they all have their own character.
Well, I guess I decided earlier than expected because I was going to wait until next year, but I couldn't pass this up. I just purchased a used Ralf Aust 6/8 Solingen Handerbeit Spanish point with Boccate scale for 115 dollars plus shipping. It will be delivered some time next month.
