A brilliant razor! I am fortunate to have the Trio - Blue Tip (B1), Flair Tip (B2) and Red Tip (B4)...love them all but I truly enjoy the Red Tip this time of year when I let the beard grow a little between shaves. In fact that will be the Vintage Gillette SOTD tomorrow.
If I may ask what size is that Captain’s Choice bowl? I have a Fine Accroutements bowl that I use and love but the Captain’s Choice look right up my alley....
1956 Gillette Red Tip SS Wild West Brushworks - 26mm tuxedo - “Elway” RazoRock - Saturnia Soap and matching AS Personna Blue (3) Just a 2 passer today and quite a good 2 passes indeed.
The steel handled sibling of the Black Tip Super Speed I posted yesterday was rather annoyed and put in a demand for equal coverage so I brought it out today and fed it a fresh blade. As you'd expect, at 46g this one weighs a little more than the aluminium handled one but the head looks identical and it shaves exactly the same. X2 1952 Black Tip Super Speed... I do like the bright blue cases these Black Tips came with.
Very nice I have a W4 with the aluminum handle which I love...(shhhh, I would like to get a steel handled one too...but she who must be obeyed would kill me)...
A few shaves later with blade wear both still shave about the same. Excellent shaves all around just you need to work each a little differently is all. I can't really call one as better than the other.

Taking it way back today. I was feeling sentimental today, and busted out grandpa's razor. It is a NDC ball end tech. I'm not the Gillette expert, so please correct me if I am wrong, but I do believe it is a mid 50s model.
nice razor Aaron, date codes started again in 1951 after a 20 odd year ndc period./if yours has no code it would be from 1946-50..not a gillette expert either.an enthusiastic collector at best..
