Same here, Jim. I really like the cuts I get from the gal that also styles my wife's hair. I've been going there for several years. She's a got a good sense of humor and a great family, so I always have a good time visiting with her when I'm there.
Thanks Jason. I'll do my best to refine and expand my enabling skills; however, I believe @clint64 will attest to my watch enabling expertise. I think of the added weight in much the same way. Carrying an extra 48 lbs is like lugging 6 gallons of milk around. I can't even imagine doing that for very long. That helps me keep things in perspective. Thanks for the encouragement.
There is a place I go to in town that has figured out the ‘best of both worlds’. There is a beauty salon in one of the strip malls that expanded into the storefront beside it. Same name, with ‘for men’ added afterwards. Basically, go in door on right, get regular beauty salon look, go in door on left, get men’s barbershop...counter is a replica of front end of a Shelby Cobra, lots of vintage hipster barber photos on the wall, TV in the leather lounge chair-clad waiting area has sports on all the time...you get the idea. Here’s the kicker- there is a doorway linking the two salons and you get the same stylists going back and forth. Men’s barbershop, with decent stylists. My wife has me take my son there now with me. Although, at the rate I’m going, I soon won’t need much more that a 1/4 in buzz on my rapidly appearing horseshoe...
When you get right down to it, Jason, this is all a guy really needs. Some guys can be a little fussy, though. Kinda like us gabbing like a bunch of ladies at the knitting club.
Wow. I made it through about 5 minutes of that 2nd video... I realize I am really getting old. Also- why the random shots of hair folicules getting yanked out? Weird. Best toupee ever, though...
It actually looked like a guy was having electrolysis in one scene. Another scene shows a barber cutting a dude's hair with a bowl on his head. I had no idea that method of hair styling was so trendy. Watching that video, now I know why my dad took me to a man's barbershop as a kid. I'm quite honestly thankful for that. If I ever came home with pink hair, he would have laughed me out of the house...and then never let me forget it. I'll just leave it there.
Gotta love the results for my alma maters this weekend. Baylor, in Scott Rule’s 2nd year, rebounded from a 1 win season to Beat Vandy in the Texas Bowl for a 7 win season. Florida, in Dan Mullen’s first season, beats Michigan in the Peach Bowl to finish well into the top 10. Sic ‘Em Bears! Go Gators! Great things ahead!
I won't say I have a lot to say about your post, Charlie, but I have a lot to say about your post. . First, you just helped me understand why Regiment Soaps calls its barbershop-scented soap High and Tight. Yeah, Boston's bandmates went for the long hair, all right, but I love many of their songs. Two of the members have died already, the drummer and the lead vocalist. As for Clubman, ya better crank out the jokes fast, as I'll be using the Original A.S. for 6 of the next 8 shaves. (With Stoylin Barbershop soap, and later with Central Texas Barbershop soap).
I'm right in between you two.. I go to a barber, but it's a shop with 3 barberettes(the father of one of them owns the place).
So THAT explains the "extra ice cream" charge on the breakfast ticket from the meet up. I have argued that for months nobody would have eaten ice cream that early but now we find out the truth. Explains why you were so eager to go back for seconds that morning too!
