I am in for January 2019. The overall goal is to continue to reduce the soap inventory but I am not strictly following the focus. Let's just say it is an unfocused focus using whatever strikes my fancy.

I decided to bring out one of the soaps I received for Christmas. The citrus, floral cologne type scent of the SV Sicilia is simply intoxicating. The WWB Tuxedo easily whipped up a rich slick lather. Three passes and touch ups ended with the baby just escaping. A splash of Fine L'Orange Noir and I am ready for a lazy day of watching bowl games. Happy New Year to everyone.

    Good question!
No, magic razor math comes thru again!
    To make a long story even l o n g e r...
My wife had me gift 2 of her relitives each a full setup including a DE razor, 3 types of blades, stand, brush, bowl, soap and other small shaving stuff for christmas gifts. This was before she caught on to "magic razor math". Now that she knows how it works, she is expecting anything and lots of it to show up in the mail any day now.

Great state of the crew speech Neal. It is great how far this has come from its humble beginnings, so I say congratulations to you and Chris for all the work that is involved here. It is a great bunch of guys here. Happy new year to all.

    Happy new year all!

I think 2019 is going to be the year of the straight for me. This will be the second time that I made this resolution. And the first time sticking to it, assuming I do. :innocent

I think also that for January, I will use this nifty new Thäter two band brush exclusively. I picked it up recently during the big selloff at straightrazordesigns.com. I mentioned elsewhere that I have tried it, but not enough to properly break it in. I tend to use it once, decide that it's okay (for a badger,) then go back to what I'm used to. I really want to give it a fair shake.

That is quite a haul, John.
I like taking B&M soaps to the bowl to get dialed in before I know them well. I am assuming that is the Glissant base? If so a normal load works well. I don’t think it is a Reserve soap, I load those for 15 seconds max. That isn’t to be frugal, it is to avoid a stringy mess.
Well, I haven’t quite gotten that desperate... can’t speak for a few others on here, though...
Interested in your opinion on that CL splash, Randy. It is one I haven’t thought about ordering in the past. I think it is described as basically a fairly floral fougere (say that 15 times...), and I know that isn’t your usual range.
Sounds like a fantastic soap, Joseph. I’ve avoided the CL/Soap Artisan collaborations to match all my CL splashes as I think that may be a lengthy rabbit hole for me.
The Nacets are a personal favourite, and often come on sale ‘cheap like borscht’...I like most of the Russian St. Petes Gillettes, though.
Risotto? Great idea, I’ve got an assortment of dried mushrooms ready for the next batch.:happy088:
Fantastic photo and subtle enabling, Clint! SV knows how to do scents, no doubt about it.

Great post Charlie, and I’m glad you had a no blood shave, unlike the finger tip shaving incident.

I wouldn’t Call this one floral at all, nor is it fern heavy like a fougere, Jason. It has the typical complexity of CL scents, and smells a bit “woodsy” but it is definitely not heavy on pine like the name might imply. Maybe some light pine, cedar, and a lot of other stuff I can’t really place. Although not my favorite CL scent, it’s pleasant enough to keep and use for sure.
