  1. Me too, Paul. I'll post a few Calvin and Hobbes comics this year, and we'll dedicate those to her. :)
  2. Thanks Paul. It's not a big boo boo, but it's a gentle reminder to watch what I'm doing. Open blade shaving definitely takes an extra measure of care. Happy New Year!
  3. Thanks, Clint! Happy New Year to you and yours too!

Great photo, report and shave to start the year off right, Clint! Stunning brush -- can't say the same about the razor.

The razor reminds me of an old family physician Mom told me about. Proud mothers were always asking him to admire their infants and expecting some professional assessment of how exceptional they were. Mom said he perfected a single all-purpose response: with an enthusiastic tone of voice, he would say , "Now THAT'S a baby!!!". Worked every time, no matter how puny and wretched the rugrat really was...

    Now THAT'S a razor, Clint!

    Enjoy the bowl games.
  4. Interesting, Randy.
I took my opinion from the CL description: ‘La Forêt de Liguest is a dark, rich scent that smells reminiscent of fougère based in the deep, deep forest, with notes of cypress and florals complementing the woods and undergrowth’
  5. Nice haul, John. I will be curious of your impressions of the B&M soap, both in terms of scent and performance. I'm a lavender fan.

  6. Thanks, Jason. I am pretty sure Tuesday is the Glissant base not Reserve. On the other hand, the Waves sample definitely is Reserve. Appreciate the tip for using the two types.

As for drinking AS, I remember that Aqua Velva used to be a popular vintage in certain crowds some of my clients ran in...
  7. It figures! Lol!

  8. Once I have used it for a few days in a row, I can give you a better opinion on both. Lavender is one of my favourite scents.

  9. I am an old man too! I used Pinaud Clubman today and I do have Williams soap.
  10. Amusing post, Randy.
  11. I have got some catching up to do. Eight pages already. :happy093:
  12. `
And growing faster than you can blink
  13. I am not sure where the Nacets are made? They aren't bad. Dried porcini + Beef Tallow + arborio rice = :eatdrink020:
  14. I am a Robitussin kind of guy myself. :eatdrink013:

  15. First, Happy New Year to everyone! Now I am new to this group so I wanted to give you my play-by-play on my first shave of the year. I mentioned in another thread that I shaved last night with my newly acquired 6/8 Ralf Aust Spanish point with bocote scales. Minutes ago, I just did my first shave of the year. Now, I didn't have much stubble, so I only needed to do WTG and ATG with some touch-ups on my neck. I mentioned earlier in this thread that I will use my Dovo Shavette, my Semogue OC Finest Badger, and Van DerHagen luxury soap exclusively for the entire month. I decided to use the Pinaud Clubman AS for the month as well. Today's result: BBS without irritation and a small nick under my chin. Applied styptic pencil and it was gone. There is my set up for the month.
  16. Scent descriptions aren’t my thing, Jason. I will say that I traded WK Chypre Rose Concerto for it, which, to me was very perfume, floral and fougere-like (i.e. not my thing), and I do like this one much better. Definitely more woodsy than anything, but no one note really stands out.
  17. They are made by Gillette in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Put a few Shitakes in there with the Porcinis...
  18. sorry for the newb ? what is "Jeeves January" theme?
  19. Welcome to the thread!

One of the popular artisan soap and splash makers is Jeeves of Hudson Street. So for Jeeves January, those who have his products will use them. Maybe. Along with following all the other themes out there, like Menthol Monday, Tobacco Tuesday, Fat Friday (Mitchell's Wool Fat aka MWF and/or Gillette Fatboys), etc... A lot of us have the attention span of squirrels -- ooh, look! Shiny razor!...
  20. Thank you Jason. SV scents are truly amazing. I can see owning many more SV soaps.
