  1. Great picture Perry, looks like both of you had a blast. My son let me know at dinner tonight that the package arrived yesterday in the mail. Can’t wait to give these soaps a test run. The only hard part is which one to try out first they all smell good to me. Thank you for the helping me out with stepping up my soap game. B735BEEE-3A72-4A7D-9BB1-8B006AB1E3DA.jpeg

    01/01/2019 – First Shave of 2019

Oneblade Synthetic Brush – 20mm knot
    Palmolive Sensitive Shave Cream
    Salsa\Timeless bowl scuttle
Gillette Super Speed Flare Tip 1956 (B2)
    Voskhod Blades
Nivea Men Sensitive Post Balm Shave
    Pinaud Clubman Aftershave Lotion

I have been helping my son with his 55 Farmall Cub so I decided to break out the 56 SS. This is my first shave with a Super Speed and it was quite enjoyable. It is a lighter razor than the Rockwell and takes a little getting used to. The aftershave splash lit me up a little more than I am used to.

Two passes and finished up some areas with a couple more passes. Applied some Nivea and followed up a few minutes later with the Pinaud Clubman Aftershave from the Tabasco bottle.

I may just wing it and try out different razors this month rather than locking into a 30DC. I do have a Dovo shavette but I will save that for the weekends.

Looking forward to this year and hope the shenigans keep up. Great to see some new folks involved in this thread.

I hope everyone has a Happy New Year and many great shaves in 2019.
  4. Thank you Charlie! The video definitely helps. I think I'll stick with the DE razors for now as I still have to master it. As my most recent shave just reminded me...:shocked002:...I can still get cut quite badly!

Speaking of which...I think I might need to invest in getting an alum block as with the number of bleeders I had around my neck today I def need something to close up the cuts quickly. Any recommendations from you gents on which brand or does it not really matter?

  7. I had a college roommate who was pretty heavy into the drug scene. He tried pretty much anything he could get his hands on. The worst I ever saw him was after he downed a bottle and a half of Robitussin. He was hallucinating zombies coming through the walls and windows and punched and kicked a number of holes in the walls defending himself. He also may have destroyed both of our chairs and his bed. When he finally came down off of it, he said he was sticking with cocain and LSD. The Robitussin scared him too badly.

  18. Sounds good, Nirav. It's handy to have alum in your shave den. It's good for conditioning your skin after the shave, judging whether you over shaved some areas, and closing up weepers. I also use it on the fingertips of my offhand because it helps with skin stretching. I don't think the brand of alum matters. Just find a block at the price you want to pay. It will last for many months unless you drop it.

This is what I use, but I think you'll find alum at less than half this price. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004NEHR28/?tag=thshde-20

  20. I wonder how your friend has fared over the years, Chris. Hopefully, he got a little wiser with age...as most of us that actually live to old age do.
