  1. Adam, a big thank you for putting this together and inspiring me to finish off some soaps that had been sitting in the rotation for years. I hope you continue this for 2019 although I can't hit the same number again as I picked all my soaps that were near the end.

    :thanks:

  3. Thursday Shave

Today is the return of Riga Razor that had a fall. Fortunately, there was no damage and I just tightened the pins and honed it. No chips in the edge so it was easy to hone. Yesterday the B&M performed adequately with the Cobra so today it was on the straight razor test, which requires a wetter lather. To increase the chances of success I went with my Omega Pro which tends to work will most soaps. It was a success. While it was not an epic shave it was very very close to being one.

    Irritation A Closeness A Smoothness A+ Sharpness A+

    Razor: Riga Razor 7/8
    Strop: SRD
    Brush: Omega Pro
    Pre: Nivea
    Soap: B&M First Snow
    AS: Speick AS, L’Occitane ASB
    Scent: Houbigant Fougére Royal

First day of ‘Jeeves January’ with the BoS combo earlier this morning. I think I’ll use this oft-neglected Edwin Jagger razor for the week.
Face-lathered an exceptional lather and had 3 very pleasant passes. While I love my vintages, and it is easy to malign modern Zamak razors, the fact is that this razor works well for a nice mild shave. That’s what I got, with zero irritation and very little sandpaper left.
    Have a great evening all!

  5. Thanks Clint!
If I was a Honer it would see some face time. Realizing that takes more gear and time than I wanted to put into it has kept me from buying more SRs.

  6. Awesome new Kami, Brian! Looks great with the 400, too.
Thanks for doing this, Adam! I’d definitely like to be in for 2019 as well. There are actually a few tubs which are about to expose the ‘ring of death’ soon...
A stunner, Clint. You are the master of the simple, fantastic shot.
Frankie goes to Hollywood? Okay, you have dug deep for that one, young sensei.
Great looking combo, Keith. I have a couple more of those big Omega pros inbound as well. Love those knots.

  7. 2nd shave of the new year; 2nd shavette. This one was given to me some time back by @RyX. Early on I used it to say I could, but now that my straight skills are solid, I used it this morning with no fear. It also confirmed that my preferences for larger, heavier razors translates into shavettes too. This one is a bit more nimble and lightweight than I prefer, so it’ll likely end up as a Shavey award in May.

  9. Stop by a local Walgreens to see if they had any Schick injector blades. They did not have any but I found it amusing that all of carts are locked up and this is not in a bad area of town. 20190102_182922.jpg
