Time to get serious about this shavette theme. So, out comes the Feather DX that I'm going to be evaluating as part of this month's plan. I used it once just to get a feel for it so now it's time to pay attention. Feather Pro blade on its second shave. These blades will easily last 7 to 10 shaves without showing any signs of weakness. For the lather it's Jeeves Bay Rum and the JR54. Great lather, slick, protective, and the brush is just a joy to feel in the hand.
I went with three passes with the razor tonight. And, as I was working my left side on the first pass I heard a shutter on my phone click behind me. My wife decided to take a quick pic of me with the pain stick in hand.

I cropped to focus on the razor and hand but she wanted me to make sure and point out I was violating one of the safety rules of straight razors. No shirt. I was, however, wearing shorts but, alas, no shoes so I missed another safety check. She worries about things like that. Probably because of the time I dropped the Feather SS and put nice cut on my chest as it fell to the sink. No drops tonight, however, so that's a good thing.
The three passes were all quite comfortable and I really do like the feel of the DX in my hand. It is very well balanced and easy to maneuver. I'll be giving it some time up against the Feather SS to compare how the different heads work as well as going against both the CJB which is a clone of the DX, and the Kai Captain which is also very similar. My goal? Figure out which I prefer out of my collection. The DX is more expensive than the SS and certainly more expensive than the CJB. We'll see if it's worth that extra money.
Finish was a very nice DFS as I didn't worry about perfection. I was bloodless and really enjoyed taking my time and letting the zen of shaving take over. Great shave to finish the day!
