January 3 SOTD: Razor: Razorock Mamba Blade: Gillette Rubie Brush: Ever-Ready 150 Lather: Speick Shave Stick Aftershave: Ogallala Bay Rum Additional Care: Stirling Unscented PSB A back to work shave. After nearly two weeks off, i was up early again for a quick trip to the gym and then work. I only shaved a handful of times during my break, and missed quite a bit of the discussion on here. My shave was decent, although I apparently left the razor cap just a bit loose and ended up with a small cut on my neck. Not too bad, but I should have been a bit more careful check my razor after a long break. I hope everyone has a great day!
Great picture, Jim! Glad to have you back. I shaved sporadically over the break as well. Nice to have time off but I also enjoy the routine.
Thank you, Perry! I agree, there is something about having a routine, so it will be good to be back. Honestly, I had so many projects around the house that I didn't get a chance to shave many days. It feels good to be clean shaven.
January Focus Brutalt Bra~~SOC~~2011 R41~~Nacet~~Florida Water In my anticipation for my first SR, I decided to go with the R41. I know...it's a long way from a straight edge, but it's the closest thing that I have to one. I have to say, the Brutalt Bra could really have benefitted from a good blooming. The soap is very firm and the backbone of my uber-broken-in SOC is extremely lacking. I ended up with some fairly insipid lather. Side note: I normally don't discuss my bath soap, but seeing as the product I used today came to me courtesy of @NCoxSTL and this thread, I will make an exception. Electric Sheep. I didn't order this, but a sample was included with my order. My only comment is this: If it were July, I wouldn't be pestered by mosquitoes. Mic drop. Back to the shave... The R41/Gillette Nacet proved to be a good pairing. Despite the watery, thin lather, I succeeded in a three-pass + touch up DFS shave. (Remember, I don't EVER chase the baby with this blood-letting tool) Jeff @Yehuda D would be proud of the face-freezing/eye-watering finish. I menthol bombed the Florida Water and afterwards, dabbed on some glacial, unscented ASB.
Thanks Jim. This is my daily driver when I'm using a natural hair brush. I use it to soak the bristles and then to keep the lather warm. I don't often use it with my synthetic brush since I skip to soaking step. I don't know how I've managed to use it for 5 years without breaking it.
I recommend none other than Mr. David Lee Roth as the person uniquely qualified to conduct said investigation.
