This arrived on the 31st and here is her maiden shave. Silverloaf 7/8 smiling with 3/4 grind. This is a beefy razor, I get the benefit of an arm workout too. Actually I find heavy razors much easier to control.
Hi, I have 2 new Dovo straights that I bought a few months ago. I just recently added a used Ralf Aust 6/8 Spanish point on Ebay. I shaved with it and it was nice. My only concern is the fact there is a gap when I place the edge on a flat surface. It is small so it doesn't affect the shave. I decided to order a brand new Ralf Aust 6/8 Spanish point from Meggard professionally honed. It is a cheaper version than the used one in my collection. Now, I just started using traditional straights and will have 4 in my den in 2 1/2 months. Funny, I was only going to buy a Ralf Aust later this year, but now I bought 2. I guess I have RAD and I just started. Lol! As a side note, presently, I have 27 shavette shaves and 29 traditional razor shaves completed.
That is an impressive piece of steel! Are those brass rivets on the face of the blade? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have a soft spot for old French razors (and English swayback shorties) and have this one on the way. St. Joanis is still in business as Alain St Joanis, making flatware, stunningly beautiful but the price is stunning too. https://www.alain-saint-joanis.com/en/ Cheers, Steve
The soap is from Man of Siam in Thailand. He does two soaps and I have both. They are superb. https://manofsiam.com/collections/man-of-siam-shaving-soap-thailand The bowl is Van Yulay. Just google “Van Yulay shaving bowl” and it will likely be the top result. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I havent muted any of mine, but a few should be. One especially, just loves drawing blood. The name stamped on it is "Respect". Its the one razor that does get my undivided attention, with each stroke.
I learned the hard way to respect the sharpness of any blade... a knife fight with a Feather SS AC Kamisori and a Feather Pro blade. I could not shave for over a week.
Frederick Reynolds. 7/8+ inch. Wedge Sheffield It's Big, It's Beefy, and I figured it would clean up nicely. A little rough, but there is plenty of steel to work with. There is beautiful etching that will probably be lost. ..
