4 January, MMXIX A.D. Shave log for 3 January As promised, one pass each with the two most tedious, yet rewarding, razor styles out there. First pass versus 5 day growth was the Whipped Dog Sight Unseen that I used my first year of open blade. I like the smiley blade and it delivered a SAS in one WTG pass. ATG with the Magic Kung-fu and it was near BBS. Alum indicated my skills regressed a bit with regard to angle around the jaw, likely in pass two. Blade choice was a random blade from the sample pile. After the 30DC AS, things were feeling great 30 minutes post shave. Used the @jtspartan handle Tuxedo for the first shave of 2019. 64 degrees outside today and the dogs wanna hunt. It's in their DNA. Weather is too warm versus average, makes me fear March is huge wet snows. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado. Have a great weekend!
Remember, it's tedious, with high penalties for mistakes...but it's not hard to learn. Be deliberate. Slow down and feel the blade. Good luck!
After a couple of days of back and forth, negotiating, third party conversations, high level muckety muck and the usual Cartel threats and curses, I am happy to announce the conclusion of a business deal between myself and @Drygulch . The "long term loan" of the Toggle has now been converted to sole ownership in my name. The terms included some expert and creative "spouse nullifying enabling" advice offered to Adam in his quest for a rather spectacular specimen he is currently acquiring, as well as the receiving/storage/shipping of as yet to be determined straight razor parts and supplies from said third party residing in the greater St. Louis area. Said third party is also offering assistance in honing my two Kamisori razors. Now I know why trades in the NBA take so long. Too many parties and conditions. Anyway.....having said all that.....I can simplify it to this........ =
January 4th EJ 89lbl First Canadian Maximo Gomez SS Omega Pro/Walnut & Brass Thayers Jeeves Tobacco Bay Leaf AS 2nd shave of January, 2nd shave with the EJ. Today’s JOHS product for ‘Jeeves January’ is this excellent splash. Whipped up a top tier lather and had 3 great passes. I am completely smooth and smelling great (imho). Not sure how it gets better than this, actually. I’ll keep going with this razor for a few more shaves, but will change the blade out for next time. It is either a Polsilver or a Wizamet (they look the same, for those of you who don’t have both) and it is done. Have a great evening all!
