Smiling razors actually make it easier to shave my neck.

Charlie that is fantastic, keep being healthy.

I agree ice cream is a powerful force for good and has amazing powers to improve the life of all of us.

Neal, I appreciate you doing the side-by-side comparison of the Feather DX and SS. I shaved several months with a Feather SS kamisori, and I never quite felt like I mastered it. The first time I used the Parker SRX last year, it just worked. You, @PickledNorthern, and @Keithmax have collectively done a nice job explaining the differences in Feather shavette razor head designs. I hope the designers at Feather are paying attention...they seemed to hype the SS head as being better when, in fact, it isn't.

@wchnu now has my Feather SS kamisori, but I still have a Feather SS folder. I may try a future focus with it, now that I've used the Parker SRX for awhile. I expect it will be more of a challenge.

It's possible my 2019 Pinaud Purchase Package will be the first of my 2019 shave orders. The shampoo and Special Reserve aftershave/cologne are my concerns. It's kinda like when your checkbook shows that page that says "It's time to order new checks", and there's still about 30 left.

Jim, congrats on your first successful outing with the IBC! Nice job! The scales on the razor appear to be textured. If so, that's sure to help with the grip.

The smiling razors work quite well, especially in the neck area, it allows for more control where you have less room to manuever and more room for error.

Thank you, Charlie. I didn't have any problems with grip. I do keep alum on my fingertips when I shave. A habit I got into with my Blackland razors.

    Valobra Fougère~~Morris & Forndran 2XL Blonde Badger~~2011 Mühle R41~~Gillette Nacet~~Brut
    Missed shaving yesterday.

Stuck with the R41 for today's shave.
In anticipation of my first SR shaves, I have decided it is time to train my left hand.
I shaved the left side of my face today with said hand and even with the R41, only ended up with
a small weeper on the left side of my Adam's Apple.
Considering everything, I didn't think that was too bad.
L-R posed more of a challenge. Completely foreign feel, especially on the jaw-line.
I also attempted some skin-stretching, another technique with which I am pretty un-familiar.

To make matters more difficult, the slickness of the Valobra really got in the way. Alum?
To @jtspartan I have to say, I don't know what's going on with your Valobra Fougère, but my puck
is a real powerhouse of a scent; one which pairs really well with my vintage bottle of Brut.
Three ambidextrous passes, resulting in a very satisfying shave.

Is the ‘for now’ a hint as to what you’ve sold the Toggle to fund?
Best pic on the thread ever. The margarita was a nice touch as well.
Awesome report, Gary. I wouldn’t worry about chasing on the lower neck- I think it is that way for quite a few of us.
What a stunning combo, Mark. The handle is just fantastic!
If you’re only getting weepers and not slices, Jim, then you are doing really well already with that Shavette.
Favourite soap? Tough call, as I’ve never thought of just one as a favourite. The First Canadian base (newer formula, but not the latest which now has goat milk as well) is every bit as good as my other top tier soaps-Stirling, Jeeves, B&M. All give great lathers. Scent wise? I’ve already stated it is one of my faves. As far as tobacco scents, yes, it is my favourite. As a scent/performance combo there are none better in my den. I don’t have it in the latest base, though.
Probably more of a wishy washy answer than you were hoping for. My favourite scent, regardless of performance, is Felce Aromatica, fwiw. There is just something intoxicating about it.

Yup, chuck out the pants...you won’t need them anymore.

Thanks Jason. Your comments along with the vendor's description for Maximo Gomez sound really good to me...

This is our take on a Cognac and Cuban Cigars scent

Maximo Gomez contains oils of zesty citrus, tobacco leaves, vetiver and patchouli, which are fused together to convey a fresh and masculine fragrance.

This is a soft soap, that provides a smooth comfortable glide for your razor, and leaves your face feeling smooth and moisturized

Thanks, Jason. I may skip the XTG pass on my upper lip for a while until I get more comfortable handling the razor.

I’m not sure of the whole First Canadian story, but basically First Canadian Soap Co made soaps only. Maximo Gomez, Esters (peppermint and grapefruit), Polar Vortex and Barbershop Fade were probably their best known along with a sandalwood, a Bay rum etc.
Over a year ago, they were bought out by a couple who had a straight blade company (honing, etc) who rebranded as First Canadian Shave. They kept most all of the First Canadian Soap Co scents (some with slightly different names now), but have added more of their own- Kink, Dickens Cider, Mojito, Blod Sv Dreki, etc. They also have a few dupes. As well, they also make splashes now.
I have yet to order from the new company, but fully intend to when they restock the Maximo Gomez splash.
