I think that's about right, Bruce. I hold the spine of the razor about a spine-width from my face.

Wow, 242 posts and 2 shaves behind. I will have to catch up later but here are my shaves:

    Sunday Shave

What can say, everything worked right and an epic shave.
    Irritation A+ Closeness A+ Smoothness A+ Sharpness A+

    Razor: Wacker Huntsman
    Strop: Kanayama
    Brush: Simpson Polo8
    Pre: Nivea
    Soap: Blood on Steel
AS: Blood on Steel AS, L’Occitane ASB
    Scent: MDCI Chypre Palatin

    Monday Shave:

This shave is a homage to Fuzzy @wchnu . While the Rocnel SE-G is modern at least it is a SE. I also used Williams and did not molest it, as tempted as I was I did not bloom the soap. I don't know why there is such disdain for Williams, it works for me. I even had an epic shave.

Missed the whole weekend on here, between rescuing a pair of bearded dragons and my daughter's hockey tournament, I was busy . 3 days growth to take off today but so goes life. Post a pic later.

    Blade: Schick Proline B-20 (3)/Permasharp (1)
    Brush: PAA Atomic Rocket
    Pre-shave: Stirling Mentholated
    Soap: PAA Kiritimati
    PAA Star Jelly unscented
    AS: PAA Kiritimati

    Good morning!

I decided to do my first pass with the IBC today. I moved the spine away from my face a bit more this time and it seemed to help. The shave felt smoother. Still awkward but I think that's from a lack of confidence. Passes two and three with the Rex. BBS with nearly silent alum and no blood loss.

    Have a great week![IMG]

That was a very interesting read Neal . I've never used either razor before but that gave me a great insight for when I do take the plunge and buy one.

Alphabetical journey through soaps and creams
    Letter C

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: Schick
    Razor: Schick G5
Brush: Ever Ready 100T restored badger
    Soap: C.O. Bigelow cream
Post: Witch hazel, Country Club for Men Modern Fougere aftershave

C.O. Bigelow came up in the rotation just in time for Menthol Monday. Great lather and smooth shaving. The G5 worked well as expected and the Country Club Modern Fougere was a little homage to the state of Alabama where it was made in honor of tonight's championship game. Roll Tide!

    Have a great day!

Great write-up, Neal! And, congrats on five shaves without any blood! Good luck with getting your old store back out of "troubled" status.

Nice shave! I think the Proraso soaps are good.

Andrew, put me down for a refill puck of Mitchell's when you need to make an order!

Missing a few letters, but the letter S has about 20 different soaps in just that one letter.

Great shave, Neal! Enjoy your time off.

    Wonderful shaves and photos, Keith!

    Terrific setup, Chris!

Wonderful shave and photo, Jim! So you got the courage to use the IBC on a weekday? That's great!

    Great shave and picture, Perry!
I'm enjoying using my soaps in alphabetical order. I have some soap coming up that I seldom reach for and I'm looking forward to knocking the dust off the tubs.
    Thank you!
Courage is one word that could be used. I had a spot on my chin and right jaw that was a little rough after my third pass. I had the "courage" to use the shavette for some quick touch up and I got away with it without mishap.

I completely agree with you. So many factors involved, and it's up to each one of us to decide what is worth it, and what isn't. Like you, I've never finished a tub of Stirling...matter of fact, the only full puck I have finished is a VDH. Arko certainly lives a long life, even for those of us who use it and like it. ;)

Curiosity got the best of me, so I checked on JOHS to see if the $19.99 included shipping. Nope. Tack on another $7. I think that's a bit much. Although he makes excellent soaps, so do many others. The way I see it ( I'm sure many others do as well), Stirling is the one to beat when it comes to value. And, they're the benchmark for comparing other soaps. Top tier soap, in a ton of flavors, at a reasonable price. What's not to love? Plus, their other offerings and not only great performers, but also have a ton of value. The aftershaves are great. Their badger brushes are probably the best bang for the buck out there. They figured out the formula for success.
