  15. Thanks Clint! I believe there are a number of factors involved that has made me appreciate my Dovo Shavette more than ever before. First, I have 29 traditional straight razor shaves as well as 30 shavette shaves. Although these numbers still qualify me as a relative newbie to straight shaving, I have never really cut up my face since day one of straight shaving. Second, the last month and a half, I have not used my shavette as much as I have used my straights so my technique has improved during that time. Now, this month was an epiphany using my Dovo shavette with using the long blade for the first time because it was like using a regular straight. So, my shavette technique improved because I went back to it for shavette month with added regular straight shaving experience girding my foundation for it. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I started using straights after having approximately 16 shavette shaves, so really I had a 29:14 traditional straight to shavette use ratio over the last month and a half, which includes the 1st week of Jan. So doubling my straight razor shaves during that window helped me improve my shavette shaves. Bottom line, after Jan., I will go back to my regular straights and my DE safeties, but I know that if I want a quick straight shave without stropping, etc. then I can go back to the shavette using the Dovo long blades. I probably will never use the shorter half DE blades. Now, I may one day get the green insert and buy the Personna hairshaper blades to see if they are better than the Dovo long blade. However, since I am getting such a great result with the Dovo blade, I really don't think there would be much of a difference. However, we will see. Questions: Has anyone used a Dovo shavette with the Dovo long blade and a Personna hairshaper blade? If so, was there any difference in the quality of the shave between the two blades?
  16. Thank you Danny. Something in particular ring your bell?

Modern Williams has a rep for dissipating. Could be the Blooming makes for heavier loading, or the need to just shave faster! It's still there, and the slick doesn't go away but the lather doesn't visually guide where you've already shaved. My understanding of molestation is to add other soaps or creams to enhance the visual. A dollop of Cremo or C.O.Bigelow accomplishes the objective.

Paul @Paul Turner likes to see progress when using his soaps. I'm OK with the long life of dense, hard, triple milled products. This WTP is an Italian triple milled so it ought to last a long time since the puck contains little water.

My understanding is that Proraso Red is the most straight up authentic sandalwood around. The trees they get the oil from are slow growing and over harvested. Some producers of sandalwood products may use Australian instead of Indian oils, and add other scents to help it along.
