I haven't used the Dovo long blades, but do have experience with Personna blades in a Weck shavette. Are the Dovo long blades flexible like a standard DE blade and formatted like a 1/2 DE blade? The Personna hair shaper types have that folded over added spine like Gem type SE blades. I think the hair shaper blade is of thicker steel like a Schick injector blade, too. They are also available here locally at Beauty Supply stores so I don't have to order online.

I think that grating it might be considered OK, especially if you're turning into a shave stick. Blooming or sousing are definitely out. Best to get the answer clarified from the man himself @wchnu

That's right, it was YOU who said that about me :). I do indeed like to see progress in the pucks, but at the same time I have full respect and understanding for those that will take a LONG time to wind down.

I may just have to pick up the Proraso Red. For comparison sake of course.

If you have a TJ Maxx nearby, check there. I was able to score one single tub at ours for $4.00. If I remember, a few others found it there for around $3.00-ish. It's a decent soap, and does have a nice sandalwood scent.

Love the Ming-Shi and the metal handle brush. I just like the looks of how it all came together.

Thanks for the explaination. I'm just trying to trying to learn. The more I learn the less I know....if you know what I mean.

    Thank you Bruce.

Great setup and photo, Brian! The Jeff's Soap is some nice stuff. Which makes me wonder how he's doing?

Taking a lunch break at home to post this shave.
Figaro Sapone Speciale is THE original P.160. Triple-milled, faintest of scents, but a trooper, when it comes to

the three most important factors: cushion, slickness and post-shave.
This soaps gets an A+ in all three categories.
Some might have read that I am working up to my first SR shave. I truly believe the one aspect that will prove
most challenging, will be using my left hand.

I have been consistently shaving the left side of my face with my left hand and it stills feels pretty awkward.
I am guessing it is going to take a good deal of time to train these muscles.
Watched a couple of videos @Paul76 recommended. Stropping and shaving.
Funny, I haven't watched shaving videos for over 4 years.
The 37C and the still-in-use Nacet blade combined for a very nice shave.
Finished with the "unicorn" of aftershaves: Floïd Blue.
    Back to work.

Thank you Bruce, every day has it moments where something triggers a memory and bouts of grieving happen but the boys exude so much happiness and innocent joy that you cant help but smile and laugh with them. Being around them keeps the world in perspective and reassures you that life will go on.

Wonderful photo and shave, Joseph! Although I still suck at using my off hand for shaving with the shavette, it feels slightly less awkward than when using a DE. Maybe it's a mental thing - simply knowing that you don't HAVE to change hands with a DE, and telling yourself that you do with an open blade. Dunno...
I'm looking forward to following your journey with straights.

Awhile back, I PM'd the guy who started the Jeff's Soap thread...no response. Wherever Jeff is, I hope he's doing well.
