  1. The kids are certainly a blessing for you, Andrew. I'm glad they help ease the sadness for you and your wife. Just focusing on the happy times and fond memories can be a huge help as well. You and your family will remain in my thoughts.
  2. Thank you, Andrew! You are right about the Ascension, it is a great value for a stainless razor.

  4. Another complete shave with the Parker today, using about as many unconventional grips I could come up with. Two small weepers that were gone prior to the shave ending. The feel was a bit tuggy at times today, which could’ve been a number of factors. Afterwards, I changed blades just to eliminate that factor for the next shave. The final result? Not too bad…not perfection, but not bad at all. A little better than yesterday. For only the 4th shave with the Parker, very pleasing.

  5. Fantastic photo and shave Bruce! I know with a straight if I start to feel a tuggy sensation that it usually means that I'm using too shallow of an angle and I need to bring the spine of the razor closer to my skin.
  6. Thank you, Andrew! No doubt, I need to learn the proper angles. And get some of the awkwardness behind me. All that will come in time - I think...:)
  7. You're doing great, Bruce!

  8. Nice shave and photo, Bruce! I would say you're doing well with the shavette. Four shaves in is four more than I'm willing to do!

  9. Gorgeous razor Brian. I don't recall seeing it a lot in the past.

  10. Now that does make sense. Great idea of using the Dovo long blades.

  11. After my shavette slip up, I've transitioned over to DE temporarily to avoid deepening the cut. Somebody (I think @jluc) posted a Rex pic that inspired me to pick mine up. It's a bit on the heavy side and not my favorite DE, but it gives a nice shave and is so dang sexy looking you just gotta use it sometimes. Then I was hit with a blinding glimpse of the obvious... it's an adjustable. I took it from 5 to 6 and enjoyed the shave more. Maybe I'll crank it up further; maybe I'll rotate razors, maybe I'll up the setting on my Fatboy (I think my last shave was a 7), maybe somebody will want to trade out a Karve F plate for my C (I currently use a D plate) to up the ante there. All I can tell you is that the longer I shave, the more aggressive I like the blade angle. I've also noticed that straight shaving, for whatever reason, has made a significant impact on my DE shaving. I'm sure I'll regret these words, but DE shaving is so effortless now that I can't imagine ever having a mishap again at this point. (I know - I just cursed myself.)
  12. Thank you Bruce. I snagged the brush at a bargin price on The Shave Nook BST.
