The stink issue is the body oil of a mature hog. Try and use a simple soap like ivory or similar, or a surfactant/detergent like liquid dish or laundry soap. It's hard to remove oil with oil. You need simple soap to chemically destroy the oil so it might be rinsed away. Stripping the bristles of oil will also encourage split ends, which is where the awesome starts on boar brushes.
