Congrats on using the straight, Perry. The square tip on the blade looks very unforgiving. I'd say you did very well with it!

Truth. I usually check multiple reviews on a given product. Overall trends seem to be fairly reliable.

Great shave, Perry! I'm just using my right hand for now. For some reason my brain and left hand don't communicate well through a reflection. I need to take the blade out and stand in from of the mirror and practice.

Today's a no shave day for me. I want to try the Parker SRX tomorrow with a couple days of growth. I've only done that once so far during this focus.

We only got an inch of snow last night. Now I'm stuck with 4 gallons of milk and 6 loaves of bread.

It's great to see all the interest and new members this month. The thread is moving fast again, and we're on pace for another 6500 post month. I took a little break a couple of days ago and found myself 300 posts behind. We all seem to take after Calvin, so we have that going for us...

Most of my soaps came via pif. 1st soap i bought was Proraso green which was recommended by guys on here as a good soap to start out with. Bought 2 more tubs last week for $6 each and giving my nephew 1 as i just got him started on wet shaving. He is 19 and eager to learn the old ways .

    You're welcome Clint

    Very nice shave Perry

Will yous be calling each other " moron" and " putz"?

    Milkwiches???
Hes obviously not intolerant to bread and milk. Maybe could experiment to get the right consistency and used them to shave.

Maya sent a photo of the snow on campus this morning. I’m not sure Lexington even got an inch.

    Wow!!
No way am I able to catch up on the posts today. Will try to read them tonight and Sunday.
I'll just let those who care know how the shavette is going.
Yesterday was busy, so no time to do pictures, but it was a gental, not to close shave with the shavette and Steriling Bay rum, a close 3 pass head shave with the Fatip Retro and a Polsilver blade.

Today, after a 20 hour Friday, I tried to take my time. Getting up later than normal, I decided to do a Ogallala Bay Rum run. :):):)

    20190112_123935.jpg

I dug out all of the Ogallala I have that's bay rum and put new blades in the razors. The shower was great, the shave was going great till, the phone rang. Work needed help. Half way through the first pass, had to stop, talk on the phone, then return back to shaving. Being new to the dark art of an open blade, I lost my mojo and nicked my chin on the 2cd start up. Nothing bad, but there it is. I finshed the first pass but had to re-lather before I could finish. Having to go in to work, I did a 2cd pass on the neck and chin only. This time I tried to get things a little closer and it worked. The closest 2cd pass I ever remember getting bar none. Even got my touch up done with the shavette. No more blood, I splashed on the cold water followed by a splash of BayRum AS, no burning, nice!
Threw on my clothes, deoderant, a little cologn and off to work. No head shave today, will do it Sunday.
Been a while since I let my hair grow long anyway. ;)
So if I can control this blade, not quite sure yet, this is a winner.

Hopefully, Sunday will be less busy.

    Thanks all!
    Enjoy
    tp

That's great news. An inch of snow only shuts down the typical city in Kentucky around 8 hours...for those that don't have tractors, anyway. ;)

    NCoxSTL AAACK!

Very nice start! I have found that I need a slicker lather for any type of straight, be it a pain stick, traditional or shavette. I think it has to do with the amount of steel that is touching my face. Longer profile than a DE in most cases. Can't wait to see you become a master with that W&B!
