  1. The business trip is ending well. I stopped at an antiques shop on the way to the airport and picked up some goodies. I picked up a W.H. Morley and Son’s razor and an old stone. The stone is a Lilly White Washita and it appears to be flat. I stuffed them in my bag and made it to the airport. Time to board. Have a nice evening.

  3. Since I shave pre shower, I use Stirling Preshave to wash my face. I don't like to see the bloom water go to waste so I transfer it into the small bowl I use to soak my brush and that's the water I use to build my lather. Does all this make a difference? Maybe, maybe not, but it's my routine.

Barbasol? Yep, Barbasol. If it’s good enough for our resident samurai @Bama Samurai, it’s certainly good enough for me. Shave time was a little tighter this morning, but I still wanted to use the Parker. Barbasol called to duty. And, it worked perfectly fine.
One very small touchdown error starting with my off hand, however ’twas minor. Two passes, smooth results. Classed things up with some Chatillon Lux.

  10. Thank you!
  11. That definitely looks like a great time Charlie, It’s really interesting to learn about the history of places like that. I know I have really enjoyed the a-b brewery tour here in Stl. I had three uncles that worked there in the 70’s and 80’s.

  12. Very nice set Neal.
  13. That's why the Mummy cursed Lord Carnarvon's SR: because he was a Daddy, saw the explorer's travel SR set, realised it was superior to the bronze crap His Royal Pharaohness had had to use to shave himself when he was alive, and in a fit of insane jealousy over Lord Carnarvon's beautiful Sheffield steel, cursed it with a staph infection. So remember: if you ever discover a Mummy's tomb, be sure to shave with modern Gillette carts and goo while doing so. The Mummy will see what you have to put up with, will pity you, and will leave you alone because you are obviously already suffering a far worse curse than anything it could do to you.

  14. Good evening everyone!
I just did my 12th Dovo shavette shave for this Jan shave focus. I still am using my Semogue badger, VDH luxury soap and Noxema as my preshave. I did a cold water shave this time because I was too lazy to do my hot towel treatments. Lol! On a two day stubble, I held the baby with just two passes and neck touchup. Also got one weeper on the upper lip. It cleared up without a tell-tale sign. It was the 3rd shave with the Personna headshaper blade. So, I have to say it was an excellent shave. I finished with witchhazel and Clubman AS.

    Result Grade A = 94

  15. Thanks Jason! The trees grow mostly in the Atlantic & Gulf coast region. Maybe you can try working cedar? Too soft?

Takes a lot of hand rubbed time to make one gleam like that. The original R-400'2 are cast aluminum with possibility of pits or inclusions. They are also decades old and often suffer from poor storage habits. Far as I know all the modern replicas are machined from billet, and probably a better grade of metal. I briefly owned one of each, and original unnumbered R-400 & my current B-400 (still have the B-400 & now a T-400). The hollow handles of the vintage units make them much lighter. As much as I prefer the replicas and a couple spare ferrules for hot swapping knots, no one has matched the raised lettering on the bottom of the handle of the Originals.

Haven't yet, but now I'm bloom water preshave curious!

Using an "at" symbol - @ - before a Members name (with no space between) to alert members that you have mentioned them in a post.

It must be good. I've yet to see any in my search of the wilds. Goes for no less that $25 on the bay.
  16. Congrats on the score

  17. @RyX, I may be old, but I am aware of the use of @. I was lazy to use it just like my shave this evening using cold water instead of my hot towel treatment. What can I say, @ least I am consistently lazy this evening. Lol.
  18. Fantastic photo Bruce. Happy Friday
