Is that 66 the listing I watched that stated it as a 70? Looks great!

I believe it’s a mismatched set. The razor appears to be the 70 but the case is 66. I think technically the 70 and 66 share the some components but with the 70 having the patent number inside vs saying pat pending

the 70 as far as i thought was nickel and not rhodium plated.. could be wrong though.. my 4th gen is rhodium, diamond baseplate with pat pending, could be a 22, but its the case that determines the set # not so much the razor..i have a late 15 .has an early 15 case but a 430030 baseplate and rocket style mechanism .i always thought that razor was a 16..so much to learn....

This will be my second English Flat Bottom, though this one clearly has a bit more mileage on it than my other one. I'm hoping it will clean up a bit.

One odd thing about this one is that it has a continuous slot and the cap has the continuous bar (as opposed to all the other ones I've seen with two slots and a split bar). @brit, you seem to be the English Tech expert. Have you ever seen one like this?

no sir , i haven t.maybe a late example just before the diamond stamped one. the cap has a continuous pin late 40-50s with the mold line in the center..the missing section on the baseplate(compared to other flat bottoms ) look like they have plating on the edges, or i would say someone cut them out to fit a later single pin cap..

Sigh. Gotta love vintage Gillettes, especially the British ones... so many strange combinations. The continuous bar caps were in use during the New era, at least in the US so, I suppose, it could be a case of a specific run being made to use up baseplates or during the transition to the post-War style. It will be interesting to see it in person.

You might know this already, but make sure you clean the surfaces with isopropyl alcohol and use a glue made for acrylics.

I realized I didn't have a spring or fall jacket (other that a holey zip up sweat shirt (good for church)), so pick this up second hand.

I’ve read many reviews praising the Yaqi Sagrada synthetic brush. I ordered one today. I prefer badgers, but I’m open to trying a new synthetic.

Hi folks, I haven’t made any purchases for a long time, so I started checking out eBay. Last week I spotted an old Canadian ABC Pocket Edition, and managed to win the auction. I’m glad I did, because it reawakened my interest in collecting razors again. So this morning I went back to a BIN auction on the Bay, that I spotted a week or so ago. It is an old Milady set from the 1930’s. Celluloid case. When I spotted it before I wasn’t sure, but I suspected it was a New Deluxe model comb guard. So I called the item up this morning, and after carefully examining the few photos available, I determined it is in fact a New Deluxe, and I purchased it. The price was very low, and I couldn’t pass it up at that price. It has not shipped yet. Please take a look at the photos, and post your thoughts on whether or not this razor is a New Deluxe. [IMG]
