SUNDAY'S SHAVE Razor - Gillette Red Tip Superspeed circa 1955-1960 (Re-plated in Satin-Nickel Finish and re-painted tip in Radiant Red color by Razor Emporium.) Blade - *5th shave Shave Brush - Ever-Ready 1960's vintage (Polished and re-knotted with a 26mm Ubersoft II knot from Envyshave by Razor Emporium.) Shave Stand by by Desire Metal Works Suds - Proctor & Gamble Old Spice "Original" Cream (Made in India) *I dried it out for months into a hard soap. Aftershave - Proctor & Gamble Old Spice "Classic" Post-Shave Balm - Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements - Mysterium Serum Deodorant - Proctor & Gamble Old Spice "Classic" Fragrance - Proctor & Gamble Old Spice "Classic" ***EDIT - Great shave. 3-pass + clean up. Zero irritation, only one super-tiny weeper that clotted in less than 20 seconds and left no residual redness. BBS result. I like the PAA serum so far. Feels good. I will need some weeks using it before I can know how well it works, but so far it feels good.
January - Shavettes and Jeeves! January 26 Razor - Tosuke Kamisori Soap - Stirling Sheep Brush - 30 DC LE Post - Alum Time to break out the Secret Santa gift and give it a whirl. It's been honed by Lynn Abrams and I'm ready to give it an inaugural shave. I feel like a kid in a candy store. I need the slickest and most protective lather I can make - so naturally it's the Sheep. Lots of water and the 30 DC LE brush to make sure there's enough to paint the walls with. I deliberately made it a little runnier than I would normally just to make sure it was like shaving on black ice. I finally got the grip feeling comfortable and started the first pass. The razor feels good in my hand. Well balanced. The edge is - dragging a bit. Angle off? I adjusted. Seemed to smooth out. Went ahead with the right side and checked the result. It could definitely be better. Seems like it's not really cutting the way I want. Switched sides. Well, went right handed in traditional style on the left. Got about the same result. I did get some reduction but the dragginess never stopped nor did the result meet what I had hoped. So, I grabbed the Magic shavette from last night and got a second pass to DFS. Successful first run in that I was bloodless and did get some reduction. I think we need to fine tune the edge. Lynn and I discussed that. He thought he could go a bit further with the edge but wanted me to try it before we went too far on the sharp end, which can happen with these razors. I'll get with him and we'll give it a little more time on the stones to approach that "wicked sharp" where I like it anyway. I think this is going to be a fine razor. Just need to get the edge perfected and also get my technique perfected. Once I have the blade set right I'll do a Rule to knock it into shape. Fun is on the way!
Last evening I was on speakerphone with the insurance person so had to shave at the sink like some kind of animal. ●NEW Deluxe ●Astra ●Barbasol regular 1 pass DFS for shaving while talking but good enough for Saturday. This is the third or fourth shave on this blade and it's gotten very nicely broken in. Extremely smooth but still extremely sharp.

SE Sunday's Shave Cold Water Wash Arko Jayaruh #340 Henckels Rapide GEM Blue Star SE CWR Pinaud Special Reserve My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Arko Shaving Soap face lathered well with the Jayaruh #340 badger brush. I did two passes with the Henckels Rapide lather catcher razor with a GEM Blue Star SE blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Pinaud Special Reserve AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Sunday's setup Barbasol floating head razor Astra SP blade VDH badger brush Colgate mug soap Aqua Velva Ice Blue aftershave Have used the colgate soap a few times and it has not given me a very good lather. It just disappears before I even get half a pass in. Don't have any trouble with others like Williams, VDH, or D.R. Harris. The razor is a beast...heavy and aggressive, for me anyway. Have a great Sunday! Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
Fourth shave since this came back from honing. Had a tiny touch up on paste beforehand. Superb shave today. BBS. Easy
Nothing fancy about this morning's shave. Switched to the Rise balm, thus: prep-Nivea 4 Men Bodywash(Maximum Hydration)-in shower shave-Rise Super Foam regular razor-Gillette Sensor Deuce Pivot + DisposeABLE A.S.-Rise Cooling Balm* *I finally figured out the confusion of where it says on the balm "New" and "Trusted Since the 50's". Rise never had a cooling balm before now, and the scent of the balm lightly resembles that of the original shaving cream that began in 1949.
27 January 2019 A great way to start my Sunday! Even though I'm letting my beard grow, I can still take great pleasure in shaving my neck and upper cheeks. Proraso White is my favorite scent of the Proraso line. Don't let the diminutive size of the Omega 10065 brush fool you. It loads up fast and with plenty of lather to spare. Great little travel brushes too. A fresh Astra blade loaded in my Fatip Grande and topped off with a few splashes of HBG Bay Rum AS is leaving me toned, smooth and ready to go.
