Thanks for the info, hopefully I'll remember. I had a Vie-Long a few years ago. I tried to remove the knot to place in another handle, iirc. It didn't end so well. I assume a fine tooth comb is the best to use? Sent from my Nokia 6.1 using Tapatalk
It arrived and it is nice. f1,8 at 18mm. It will Macro focus down to a little under 2 inches. Shoot JPEG and RAW. It has a one inch CMOS sensor; SteadyShot. Many, many reviews state excellent image quality. Excellent video. I also have a Sony a6000 and this little camera can hold its own. No buyers remorse. Additionally, for many, many years Canon and Nikon were the big dogs. However, Sony has done its homework and their cameras can go toe-to-toe with Canon and Nikon.
Won this today. Includes a Gem Featherweight, Paragon OC from England, English Gillette Tech with a handle I haven't seen before and an English Ever-Ready. Along with two Gillette blade banks and some blades. Had to spend my Ebay bucks on something before they ran out..........
I was thinking along that line, just didn't see that exact one on @mr-razor's site, unless I missed it.
I'm not sure that Achim has any examples of a British Bakelite handle with a metal head, just Bakelite heads. It reminds me a little of the wartime Canadian Tech I have with a Steel pre-War style baseplate and and English Bakelite handle. I assume that yours is a Flat Bottom Tech?
i thought i saw a french set with that handle and a metal head on etsy a while back..but yes brits had a bakelite head from ones i ve seen.. nice score..
I put a high bid on it near the end and ended up paying less than what sellers put on two blade banks alone. And I wanted that English Tech, and lucky I beat out someone's high bid, which really wasn't that high.
The Paragon OC and Tech look cool. It was not uncommon for Gillette to swap handles on their razors (in American and English factories as well). Depending on wether the head is French or English could explain if it's a mistake at the factory or an intended frankenrazor. When you get a group of men together in a time such as war, I'm sure razor parts were swapped to customize their preferences.
It does appear that the one I'm waiting for does have a French handle, made in England, with an English head.
Waiting on a few more goodies. The price was right for these I have the correct razor for this set and after getting $10 off I jumped on it. Lastly I recently acquired a no 58 case with a hd500 in it. So I needed a razor to complete it. A decent price for this razor after negotiating several times. Lol
