RazoRock 400 Noir Plissoft Synthetic Shaving Brush
    Old Mountain Cast Iron Bowl
    Williams Mug Soap
    Voshkod blade
Gillette – “Property of U.S. Army” Head (1918) on a Weber Bulldog Handle
    Nivea Post Balm
    Pinaud Clubman Classic Aftershave

I had to break out the Williams again this morning and give it another test run.

I dampened the brush this morning, swirled it onto the dry Williams and picked up some of the soap on the tip of the bristles. I then finished lathering up the Williams in the cast iron bowl because it is larger than the salsa bowl and gives me more room to work the Williams. Added a little water when necessary. It does take a little longer to work the Williams up, but it whips up nice and thick.

I made two passes this morning. The old Gillette head and Williams did a great job

I finished up with some Nivea and Clubman Classic.

Y'all take care and have a great day.

  2. And now ANOTHER Artisan soap co. to look up. (Thought I'd seen em all, but when it gets down to the mathematicia, II've probably only seen 1/5 of 'em all. )

Razor: Long Single Slot Flat Bottom Tech/Split Bar Cap
    Blade: 7 o'Clock Permasharp Stainless (2)
    Brush: Razorock Plissoft 22
Soap: Williams w/ traces of Stirling Sheep
    Post: Alum, Listerine, WH

Today is a repeat of Monday's shave with one difference; I have replaced the cap with came with my newly-acquired FB Tech with the cap from my older, milder FB Tech. First impassion is that it the result is milder than with the stock cap but with a bit more blade feel than my older FB Tech. It is well within what I would consider a Tech to feel like and, in this case, probably hints at the relationship between the English FB Tech and the English FB New.

Overall, a great shave with one weeper from a bad letdown in a tricky area.

The original cap for this razor has some roughness along the edge where it would touch the blade. Given that the baseplate is showing some erosion of the metal around the lather slots, I'm thinking that the cap roughness might also be from erosion and is causing the blade to not be deflected sufficiently, causing the aggression. I'll probably give this one another go tomorrow with a long bar cap from a US razor, but don't expect a big difference from today's shave.

  9. Another wonderful shave and photo, Charlie!

Good stuff, Danny! Thanks for the commentary about Williams. I got better lathers when I worked it up in a bowl as compared to face lathering.

    Nice shave, John!
