Thanks, Mark! Milo's Hamburgers is an institution here in central Alabama. Lots of great memories eating there and future memories to be made as they're going strong. Thank you, Andrew!

SOTD January 30th Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave Soap Gillette Fatboy (6) Schick Krona Chrome (2) Wild West Brushworks Jungle Ebonite (26mm, Frigate Class) Stirling Hot Apple Cider soap Soap Smooth Frozen Cranberry AS This morning, in the name of science, I decided to repeat razor/blade combo of my Monday shave to see if the was the cream or the blade that made for the rough shave. This morning I lathered up some Stirling Hot Apple cider into a shiny slick super goop to put it to the test. The results were the same rough shave with tugging and excessive blade feel. So far I'm batting 0 with the vintage Schick blades. I've tried two different Schick blades from two different dispensers and have had similar results. This has me wondering if the early DE manufacturing processes just couldn't produce as sharp of an edge as modern technology. But then I think back and realize that I've had great shaves using vintage Gillette Stainless blades, so what gives ? Oh well, have a great day my friends! Hump Day!!
It seems more likely to me that time was not kind to the edges. Even though they are stainless blades I guess they could still degrade over time given less then ideal storage conditions.
Excellent lineup and shave Andrew. Declan is growing up so fast. Happy Hump Day. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Day 26. It's -9° right now in Beech Grove, up from -14°. When I pulled up the sliding panel that locks the doggie door, there was ice on the inside. Poor Osita was out and back inside in record time! I did my three passes with the straight, and finished with the tech. Electric sheep made for an outstanding shave, as always. I usually don't move blades from one razor to another. But only one clean up pass per day will take forever to wear it down, so I'll probably do that soon.
Hi everyone! I just finished Dovo shavette shave no. 20 (45). I completed 2 passes and got BBS with no nicks, no weepers and no irritation. This is my last focus shave for Jan. Grade 97 = A+ Grade Avg for Month 94.5 = A ***I want to thank Neil for the shavette theme this month. I learned to appreciate my Dovo Shavette because I wouldn't have tried the black insert with the Dovo long blade and wouldn't have bought the green insert and the Personna hairshaper blade that complements it. I would have just used DE half blades and never ventured into my shavette's complete capabilities. I also learned to stick with the same gear for an extended time, and stall my desire to try my new 6/8 Aust that I bought last month. Boy, I am itching to use this razor! Also, I am excited to try out my new Fiodur as well. Finally, it will be nice to revisit my 2 Dovo straights, and my 1968 Slim Adjustable, my Rockwell 6C and my cheapie VDH TTO razor. However, I will never ever take my Dovo shavette for granted. It gives a very good shave. One last thing, I want to thank every one of you for your knowledge and your fellowship. Looking forward to next month! As GEOFATBOY would say, "Have a great shave and have a great day!"
