After leaving posts on a Gillette Goodwill thread yesterday, I realized I haven't used mine yet. So I took out a Bolzano blade from another razor which had a few shaves on it. The head on the Goodwill razor is thicker and heavier than a regular Long Comb razor, which seemed to produce a slightly more aggressive shave, to me anyway. One thing I noticed was how the head and bottom plate fit was loose, until the blade was added, then it tightened up properly. Even with the used blade, I got a very smooth BBS shave in two passes and some touch up.

Soap: Summer Break Soaps- Back To School
    Post: Florida Water

Excellent shave this morning. Summer Break Soaps has a great soap base and it provided for a swell shave. Plenty of slickness and the lather took a ton of water without breaking down.

Scent of Back To School is described as dry leaves with ozone type notes.
certainly can envision that, my GF says it smells like Paste but to my nose it smells almost like Play-Doh but can detect the Elmers Glue she mentioned. Its different from most other Fall scents and is one that has grown on me over time despite not liking it at first. Scent strength is mid and not overpowering.

Managed a decent shave with no nicks or irritation. Finished off with Florida Water (with added menthol) which paired well with the soap. Could still detect the FW a few hours later which is a good thing IMO.

Hope everyone had a swell shave!

    •VDH Luxury Scented soap

Woke up late this morning, settled for a 1 pass near BBS. Soap didn't want to whip up into much of anything for me but provided enough of a layer for a comfortable, issue-free shave. Nondescript but pleasant scent.

The blade, right out of the wrapper, was more comfortable/less scrapey than an Astra platinum (the most recent thing I have to compare it with) but seems about as sharp. I'm pleased with them.
  18. Beautiful brush, Guy. Quite a tall loft. How's the floppiness?

  20. Should I say thanks... or sorry? I hope it's the good kind of envy. The UK, France and Germany triumvirate makes for a great shave (along with a Russian blade). Cheers.
