  1. Indeed it is Gary.

Start with 80grit paper and sand face with the grain, slowly work your way down to 4000 grit and you should be ok for witch hazel splash.
Was also thinking you could do a 30 day rule on the new razor to see if maybe that would iron out the problem. Just a thought.

  2. MAYhem.. ..aaaah yes. Almost time for me to get out the junk drawer( not the cutlery drawer) and build a new razor.

  4. It was so nice to be home this morning. After a nice breakfast with my lovely wife, I picked some of my favorite gear and had a nice leisurely shave before church. It’s been a great day so far.

  5. I don't think anyone would be confused because we are on a shave forum, not a medical one.

  9. Let it be known that I will use the term in-betweener shave (IBS) for one that is better than DFS, but not quite BBS on my straight razor shave reviews. I give permission to anyone that wants to use it.

Days 1 and 2 Fatboy Shaves:

    Razor: Fatboy
    Blade: Feather
Soap: Proraso White with Cremo for slickness
    Brush: Prefecto Badger
    Mug: Henry Cavendish

I know my pic lacks the artistry of others, but thought I would play along.

First shave was a learning experience. Man that was a close shave. I had a few nicks, weepers, and a mild case of razor burn afterward. Trouble spots were under my nose, on the end of my chin, and around my adam's apple. Overall, I enjoyed the weight and feel of the razor. As reported by others, I experienced some drag from the head. Cleaned the head and polished it with Flitz to see if that would reduce drag.

I added some homemade preshave oil to the list above for the second shave. I also spent a little extra time on the soap to make sure it was whipped into a nice cushiony lather. Concentrated on riding the cap and had much less razor burn on the 2nd shave. Still had a small amount of drag from the head. Will try to use some car wax on the head as suggested by @Terry before the next shave. Trouble spots were under the nose and around the adam's apple again. Figured out the chin area.

Both shaves are wtg on the first pass, xtg on the second, and cleanup afterward. Need to find a better angle for my neck that won't give me in grown hairs. Can't wait to get good with this razor. I am enjoying the shaves though. I have some Stirling samples on the way. Don't know if I can stick to Proraso for 30 days with that in the den.

    Happy Super Bowl Sunday everybody!

  12. Sounds like improvement from shaves one and two. Congrats! As far as drag, try an even lighter touch. Good luck!

  18. Excellent progress. I would try to use a little less pressure to cure the drag.

Whenever Wade visits I tend to have a bit too much to drink. On the bright side, no internet shopping took place. I was up and moving very early this morning so that I could go visit Mom and take her out to lunch. The big boar whipped the SdM into a wonderful rich slick lather. Three passes and touch ups just missed the baby. A splash of CC Bay Rum left me clean shaven and smelling fantastic. I hope everyone has a great Sunday.
  20. Same reasoning as to why professional swimmers go hairless, but in their case it's hydrodynamics.
