1. Boctok-3. 1960's era.
    Russian Made

This one came straight from the Ukraine. It needs a little attention, but it should clean up nicely. I just dread trying to hone it. They are notorious for having very very hard blades.

An old new acquisition... I probably acquired this razor 25 years ago from a random junk shop in Olympia, It was lost it in a move and found as part of spring deep clean.

I am guessing the scales are organic, (not wood and not bone).. If anyone knows anything the history of this razor or its maker please let me know

  6. Thank you Gary. It cleaned up very well. The scales were filthy... Disgusting, even. Later today, I am going to give it a run on my Norton 4/8K stone, followed by my Naniwa 12K Super Stone.
  7. Thanks Gary. These sets are fun to find.

  9. I just received my W. F. Engel Special straight razor which dates between 1890's to 1930's. 20190204_164928.jpg
  10. F.W.Engels are wonderful shavers. They used Engel's proprietary Argo Steel .It is fairly hard that takes and holds a great edge .You should be very happy with your Engels .

  12. Be sure to color the proper areas with the appropriate color green. It highlights the razors look, just right.

  15. A Papillon or Butterfly double bladed razor:

This one has a set of blades faces that I have seen on at least 3 others - floral pattern on one and that same pattern with “London” on the other side.

I have no remnants of a tang stamp on this one, but the others had Warranted Cast Steel, Acier Fondu, and Sheffield on them in a very poor, worn stamp.

Seems like the common thought is these were made by French Napoleonic prisoners of war, who made and sold these tools to possibly better their living conditions.

As far as using... not sure :)
Very weird feel and the design is unbalanced since another blade is sitting in the scale. Here is a pic of the pinning at the pivot... they move pretty well, with no signs of hitting the other blade or scale.

I may get up the courage at some point... okay, I’ll do it... maybe. :signs002:

    Definitely different.
    Happy hunting.

Unknown with any of the history behind this. If anyone knows the history, please chime in. It is old, and still had grease on it, and doesn't look as it it has touched a hone.
I have already restored it. Photos on the restoration section.

  19. I just received a Boker King Cutter 5/8 round point for under $80 on EBay. I have seen brand new ones being retailed for over $150. This razor is hardly used. The only thing wrong with it is the back face has a small water stain. To me, that's not a biggie. I tested the razor and it is shave ready. I started straight shaving last October. Presently, I own 7 straights and a shavette. I bought 2 Dovo's and a Ralf Aust brand new. The rest were bought on Ebay and they were great purchases.

  20. Excellent. I prefer Vintage to New, anyway. That Boker looks like it has never been honed. To get the water stain off, just use a little Flitz, and it should come off, fast. :happy088::happy088:
