I agree with your assessment of Boellis completely, Joseph. Cella by another name in a fancy bowl. By the way, Cella is an extremely underrated and outstanding soap in my opinion, so that’s not a knock on Boellis; just an observation that they are comparable.

I would wager that 9 out of 10 could not tell the difference. Indeed, I am a little concerned that my Boellis is beginning to go bad. There are yellowish striations, that weren't there when it was new.

Thanks gentlemen. My Bride and I had a fantastic day with our sweet kids.

House update: trim work (inside and outside) is complete. Tile and hardwood floor installers began today. Cabinets will installed beginning on Friday. I officially have a built-in shelf in the basement to display my shaving goodies.

Everything is coming together now.

BBS will happen. Focus on perfect angles and stretches, and experiment with the grip. I promise that my 250th open blade shave was far better than my hundredth. SR demands extremely precise techniques to deliver consistent BBS. The fact that you're DFS and not getting hurt at this point means you are on the right path. Results improve gradually as skill, familiarity, and experience increase.

Much better second shave of the month for the German themed set-up. I had to give my face time to recover after I killed it last Friday. Here's what ya don't do:
Wash your face way too aggressively in the shower under a stream of too hot water from the shower head. Then.....
Aggressively over-do it with face lathering.....then,
Use a brand new blade that is many degrees sharper than the one you just used for a month straight.

I looked like I had just unsuccessfully diffused an atomic bomb.
Fried.
For days.
Today was back to normal. Skipped the face lathering (which I've never been big on anyway) and bowl lathered the Tabac with the Plisson synth. Three passes with the 34G loaded with it's Merkur blade and all was good again. Post was cold water rinse with a witch hazel chaser. Nivea Men balm for the finish. Ahh....relief at last.
