  1. Thank you, Patrick!
FaceScraper, clint64, PLAla and 3 others like this.
  2. Patrick, that is a great thing! We have to spread the word that there is a better way to shave.

  5. Thanks Jim.

Bought 3 of these at dollar store, all different designs. Top seals so soap won't dry out. That's Aqua Velva blue in the bottle. Recomended by Williams lol
  6. Nice shaves, gentlemen!
  7. Thanks Perry .

    Here's the top Andrew.
  10. I agree, even if it's only 1 person at a time. Wish someone had saved me years ago.
  11. Hey @jluc - Nice haul on Russian blades today! I got my final, and largest, package from my most recent order today as well. 500 Voskhod, 100 Rapira Platinum Lux, 100 Rapira Stainless, 50 Rapira Swedish Supersteel and one single mystery blade as a gift. Mystery blade, you ask? Yep. Not a marking on it. I have no idea what it is other than a blade from Russia. Intriguing.

  12. I hope it serves you well. Omega seems to spend their resources making great knots and serviceable handles.
  13. Thanks.....just trying to make Fuzzy proud.
  14. February Favorites!!

    February 6

    Razor - 1946-'47 Gillette Aristocrat
    Blade - voskhod-teflon-coated.jpg (1)
    Soap - Stirling Sheep
    Brush - 30DC LE
    Post - Nivea Original Balm

I did some playing around with the Kampfe Star, reloading the blade to check Fuzzy's theory that I didn't have the blade seated right last night. I do believe he diagnosed it. That makes me feel a bit better about the disaster of a shave that followed, if only because it proves it wasn't only my lousy technique on the shave. However, my face is raw enough to day that the Star will have to wait a few days while I smooth things back out. So, I switched to one of my favorite combinations. I call it the "detente setup" because it's classic Russian steel with a classic American Gillette razor. And, since 500 Voskhods arrived to shore up my dwindling supply, the Voskhod was a given. (By dwindling, I mean I was under 500 actual Voskhods....panic time).

I chose Stirling Sheep to give me an extra slick and protective kick from the mutton tallow and used the LE brush to work up a lather worthy of a demo video. I only went two passes, and discovered that, yes, my neck is quite tender when it comes to a razor at the moment. Ended with a DFS and only used the Nivea to follow in order to keep things smooth and healing. A good shave, if I do say so myself.

I'll give it a couple of days before I go back to an SE razor, just to give my neck time to heal up a bit more. This setup, though, is definitely a favorite, and with the Stirling Sheep it's become even more of one. Have an awesome Thursday!

  15. Very nice, Neil! I need to revisit Voskhod blades since my technique has improved. I have a tuck or two in my miscellaneous blade bowl.
I'm curious about the mystery blade. I'm guessing the identity will eventually be revealed?

  16. I'm going to contact the seller and see if he can give me the info on it. Otherwise, it will eventually end up in a razor. Then we'll at least know its quality. I will also look at it with the lights off tonight. If it's glowing green I'll know it's Chernobyl steel.
  17. Soon we will see Vlad sporting a beard due to blade shortage. The mystery blade probably has a message on it from Cartel. Hold it under a black light.
  18. Thank you, Rick. Two Dawn dish soap washes and a shampoo with only one bristle lost. It will be put into service this weekend.

  19. I think you did well Danny.

Does an alarm go off when you get close to the 500 mark? Fuzzy is the all seeing eye of vintage SE razors . He's good at enabling too.
  20. Has anyone ever lathered Neutrogena face soap? I lathered some up and it was a pretty decent lather. I have not tried shaving with it yet but a test run is coming.
