It is not damaged, everything has functional limitations, if you don't modify the physical design somehow that is the limits within where your technique lies not the other way around.
It is a good razor but not a great razor if that makes sense as a description. It is great for beginner and gives really good shaves but here I am and others the bar we are aiming is a lot higher than that and this razor just is not reaching that bar because of it's head design.
Day 41. Much better today. Three passes with the Dovo Best, and cleaned up with the D injector. I did manage a couple of minor oopses that drew just a little blood, but overall nice and smooth and no irritation. The La Toja stick is on the ropes - maybe 3/8" left. Heck, I'll even finish off the 400ml drum of Floid before too long. It will be my second one.
Well I don't know about all of that, I own one. I have loaned it out to over 4 guys, none of them have liked the way it feels and shaves. You wouldn't be the first not to like it. I'm not a fan of it either, but I'm sure there are some out there that love it. It's a YMMV (your milage may vary) kinda thing. Most importiant thing is you know what you like, that's great progress. tp
It is made by Weishi for VDH, it is not a rebrand. The tooling and materials are different from the Weishi branded razors even though they share the same design. They are no more the same razor than the Viking and Baili where when Baili produced the razor for them. There is an important lesson in that one in how to design tooling so as not to get screwed over by the manufacturer later on.
January 31, 2019 Supply SE V2 - 2 Dot Plate Schick Proline Paladin Mike’s Vetiver Fine Fresh Vetiver Very early morning shave with a late morning post. Mike’s Vetiver is just straight vetiver with all its earthy damp glory with no other scents to lighten the impact. I love vetiver so this is right up my alley. The Paladin easily whipped up a wonderful rich slick lather. Three passes and touch ups ended with the baby in the house. A splash of Fine Fresh Vetiver kept the theme going. I’ll be leaving shortly for the airport. I hope everyone has a great Thursday and a Happy Valentines Day. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
February Favorites & Fat Boys Razorock WTP Lime Burst SS Surrey / VDH boar brush Suribachi bowl & cool water '59 Fat Boy on nine, GSB blade Pinaud Lime Sec Eau de Cologne This morning was "Donuts with Dads" at the elementary school. I got the girls up and dropped them off in my sweat pants and sweat shirt. Back home and plenty of time for a shave and dressed to be seen in public. Sock and shoes - not sandals. Too cool out for shorts, and yes I wore a shirt. The shave? I picked up this slightly shoddy shedding brush from a garage sale for a buck. Needed the prop for when I do used VDH soap & bowl and one day it'll get a new knot. Easy loading on the Italian hard puck with lots of scent. I received the soap in a trade with Nirav @Spock who was having sensitivity issues because of the lime oil. Common for many people just like rose scents do for others. Nice smooth reduction from the Sliver Blue blade. Got one nick in my chin, but it sealed up tout suite. Splashed on the Pinaud and traveled to see the twins. The school recently added a third 2nd grade teacher which reduced their class to only 16 kids. Lots of elbow room and more teacher time for each student. Good Shaves Y'all!
The razor doesn't vary the user does assuming they are made consistently the same. That YMMV stuff is not the problem here. That is just a lazy way of not wanting to see the forest for the trees when it comes to how razors are designed to work aka the head geometry. If the razor can not cut below a certain depth that will not change from user to user, only thing that changes is how much hair pokes out above the surface of the skin based upon it's pliability and such. Post shave skin care is it's own separate thing independent of the shave that can influence how smooth your face feels and such. Same with pre shave skin prep will influence how smooth the face feels during the shave. The way I prep I can't gauge if the shave will be BBS during the shave unless I use something like a straight that can take the hair down to the skin when it is that far extended out.
Not less important, sure. But not more. True. But it is the first hurdle to overcome. With poor technique, all razors suck. Some will suck less than others, but that aint the answer.
