Perry, when you showed us that video of your band "competing" against other bands, near the end I could hear someone say "Great job!!". That's what band members love to hear, of course. Such positivism(is that word?)really lacked in our HS band. Sad.
That's too bad, Paul! Kids will always be kids and often say mean things, but on the whole bands in this area are very supportive of each other. The kids love to listen to other bands and applaud them because they know the hard work it takes to get there. The support and camaraderie is one of the wonderful things of this niche of education.
February 15th British Aristocrat Jr w Ladas (1) Palmolive Shave Stick Omega Pro/Walnut & Brass Thayers Fine Fresh Vetiver AS A combination of favourites and first uses today. Love the Palmolive Stick and big Omega boars, definite favourites. Moved on from my favourite Injector to a favourite TTO- The 'Crat Jr. The Red Tip will give it some stiff competition in that category, but I am more familiar with this razor and it is in fantastic shape. First uses today of the Ladas blade and the Fine AS. The blades came from @NCoxSTL with a bunch of other Rapira blades (and Sputniks) I hadn't tried yet. Got the usual great, simple Palmolive lather and had a pleasant enough shave. The blade didn't wow me, but it was only one use. I've used Voskhods, Sharp Stars and Swedish supersteels from Rapira previously, and at first blush I'd put them all ahead of this Ladas. Just felt a little rough to me, to be honest. Also the first use of any Fine AS products. This came a few days ago, and isn't like any other scent I have. I liked it. The only scent I have that is even in the same range is TFS Mastro Miche, but I am quite bad with scent descriptions. Based on the ingredients, I think I might put a little Glycerin in it. A quality product though. I will be drawing for the Beehive Brush PIF in about one hour, so if you haven't sent me a PM, you have an hour to do so. Have a great day, all!
Awesome photo, Danny! Happy Anniversary! Great shave and beautiful new razor, Neal! As long as you enjoyed it, that's all that matters! Nice Razor, Keith! Great shave Nirav, and thank you! Awesome photo Jim! Great looking shave, Charlie! No grade on a DE shave? Good one anyway, Joe! Beautiful photo, Jim! Happy Fat Friday, Perry! Enjoy your weekend! Git-r-done Mark! Beautiful setup!
Agreed, Neal. The regular Flare Tip doesn't get its due, probably based on the fact that it is so common. I got a Red Tip from @Screwtape in the fall and have used it for a probably about 10 shaves or so. It is also a quality shaver.
Wonderful shave, Jason! I smelled Fresh Vetiver at a shop in Chicago in December and liked the scent a lot. Thank you, Andrew!
I definitely need to use some stretching to clean up the chin and neck. These soaps are so slick that I can’t seem to get comfortable doing it. Plenty to work on. Just when I thought my technique was pretty solid I started wondering if I was actually cutting beard or just moving the slick soap around. I’m finding that most of these soaps can take a good bit of water. I think I was using too dry a lather until recently. It was beautiful, but had no sheen. I don’t think great lather is rocket science, but one needs to be patient.
Yes, some of us are buried in snow and ice. The view isn't bad though. This was yesterday out an office window from a meeting I was in:
Another nice photo, Jim. I guess 'Lemon Rose Chypre' is close enough to Arko... 40th shave with the Parker! Awesome, Charlie. Pretty soon we are going to see either Barbasol or 100 straight days with Arko from you... Very cool brush, Jim. Another stunner. Congrats on getting through EDSYO. I did a no repeat November and was dismayed to realize I made it all the way through the month without repeating a soap (and leaving several samples in the drawer). I trust the meeting went well, Perry, and enjoy your time on the Gulf Coast. Do you golf? A very nice high end combo, Mark. Good luck on the soap. Looks like about 10 shaves worth or so there.
SOTD February 15th Stirling Mentholated Per-Shave Soap EDRIO #23 Schick Injector Type D Personna Yaqi Mysterious Space (24mm, Frigate Class) PAA Pineapple Bay Rum soap and AS Stirling Glacial Unscented PSB Fantastic shave with the Type D this morning. Excellent slick lather from the PAA CK-1 soap base. I know they say that the CK-6 base is tops but I don't see how it could be anything more then a marginal improvement over the CK-1 base. The scent of this soap initially off the puck is Juicy Fruit. Once lathered more of the Bay Rum starts to come out. With the AS the pineapple fades pretty quick and then your left with just a nice straight up Bay Rum. A little face freeze and hydration from the Stirling Glacial Unscented PSB and I am smooth and my face feels great. Tomorrow Logan will be two years old and we have a big party planned. Have a great weekend my friends! TGIF!!!
